Are you the one?
Port of Skellefteå is now looking for a Sailor for the tug Baus who wants to be part of the exciting journey towards developing into a leading port in northern Sweden. Our port is currently undergoing extensive expansion and modernization to meet the increasing needs of the market. With an investment of approximately 1.5 billion kroner in the coming years, including a quay, new tugboat, jack tracks, cranes and other unloading equipment, as well as logistics areas and warehouses, we are facing exciting challenges and opportunities. Port of Skellefteå works every day to ensure that Skellefteå's and the region's now very expansive business community has the conditions for efficient transport solutions. About the tug Baus Baus is an older, conventional and ice-breaking tugboat. Approximately 90% of the year's walking hours are spent in winter when Baus acts as an ice breaker. During the ice-free period, Baus performs assistance towing in the port. WORK DUTIES You work 1/1 with a one- or two-week rotation. During the working weeks, you live on board the tug Baus and are available around the clock, within the framework of the Maritime Labor Convention. During port towing and icebreaking, you are alone on deck and handle the tow rope when coupling. Good communication with the bridge is of course crucial and is managed over the radio. When you are not on deck, you are on the bridge as a lookout. At the dock, the crew takes care of the boat's maintenance and repairs. You will be an important part in the periodic ship maintenance. The crew is also responsible for fairway maintenance in the port. We handle most of this with our work boat. Here you will take part in unpicking, battery changes and other maintenance of sea marks and single lines. In addition to being a sailor on the tugboat, you will be a resource in the other port operations. You are the one who will coordinate and often lead the work of mooring incoming ships. Here you will need to keep up to date on ship traffic and plan staff accordingly. For calls that do not require tug assistance, you will lead the mooring work on the quay during arrivals and departures. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for you who have a midshipman's license or higher and who has basic safety training. You also have a medical certificate for sailors and ship's officers class VIII. In addition, you speak fluent Swedish and good English and have a B driver's license for manual transmission. It is advantageous if you have a Ship's Officer class VII or higher and if you have experience of previously working on a tugboat. As a person, you are service-oriented and have good cooperation skills. You are structured and self-motivated, take responsibility and organize your work efficiently. You are used to analyzing risks and always put safety first. Furthermore, we would like to see that you have the ambition to become a skipper in the future. OTHER Community planning ensures that streets and squares, communities and residential areas function as well as possible for everyone who lives and works here. The assignment includes planning, advice, supervision and a lot of long-term development issues with connection to physical planning, streets and parks, transport and service, emergency services, sweeping and water and waste. With technology of good quality and diversity, both in terms of business areas, personnel and technical development, we make a growing Skellefteå possible.
