At ABB, we help industries outrun - leaner and cleaner. Here, progress is an expectation - for you, your team, and the world. As a global market leader, we'll give you what you need to make it happen. It won't always be easy, growing takes grit. But at ABB, you'll never run alone. Run what runs the world.

This role sits within ABB's Robotics business, a leading global robotics company. We're entering an exciting new chapter as we've announced the plan for SoftBank Group to acquire ABB Robotics. SoftBank is a globally recognized technology group and investor/operator focused on AI, robotics, and next-generation computing. By joining us now, you'll be part of a pioneering team shaping the future of robotics-working alongside world-class experts in a fast-moving, innovation-driven environment.

This Position reports to: Production Engineering Manager.

As Maintenance Manager at ABB Robotics, you are responsible for leading and further developing the maintenance activities within the factory in Västerås. The maintenance department is responsible for both preventive and corrective maintenance and is a business-critical function for the stability, safety and efficiency of the factory. The role is both strategic and operational and involves a clear mission to initiate and drive the development of the maintenance organization towards a more structured and data-driven way of working in line with WCM (World Class Manufacturing). You will play a key role in setting direction, building structures and establishing ways of working - from current situation to future target picture.

A particular focus of the role is to build and develop a strong team, where clear responsibility for equipment, collaboration and common ways of working are crucial for success. The maintenance organization is divided into areas of responsibility within mechanical maintenance, cabling/calibration and automation. You lead about 15 highly experienced and competent maintenance technicians and are responsible for developing both organization, working methods and culture.

A very important part of the assignment is to prepare the maintenance organization for the transition to ABB Robotics' new Campus, as well as to ensure that skills, structure and processes meet future requirements in a modern and highly automated production environment.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Lead and build a high performance maintenance organization with clear equipment ownership
  • Initiate and drive the evolution towards WCM based ways of working in maintenance
  • Responsible for maintenance budget, cost follow-up and resource optimization
  • Ensure maintenance plan and high availability for the transition to ABB Robotics new Campus
  • You are part of the management team for technology and report to the Manager Industrial Engineering

You are responsible for creating structure, working methods and conditions that allow the organization to take full operational responsibility for maintenance work. This includes planning, implementation and follow-up of preventive and corrective maintenance, systematic analysis of malfunctions, safe supply of spare parts, lifecycle management of equipment and responsibility for equipment moves. You will develop technical solutions to increase reliability and lifetime and ensure that documentation, records and maintenance plans are kept up-to-date. The role also includes monitoring contractors and participating in service agreements.

As a leader, you drive change, create engagement and build consensus. You develop the skills of the team, ensure knowledge sharing and promote collaboration between technical areas. You ensure that the organization has the right skills for today's and tomorrow's needs and, if necessary, initiate training in operator maintenance.

Qualifications for the role

  • Several years of experience as a Maintenance Manager or in another leading role in maintenance in the manufacturing industry, preferably with a high degree of automation.
  • Experience in initiating and driving development towards WCM (AM/PM) or similar structured maintenance and improvement methods
  • Strong ability to build teams and lead change in a technically complex environment
  • Ability to combine strategic holistic perspective with operational presence and sense of urgency for the value stream.
  • Experience in life cycle management, preventive maintenance, reliability work and budget responsibility
  • Technical education at college/university level or equivalent experience is meritorious
  • Very good knowledge of Swedish and English, in speech and writing
