Role and responsibilities

ABB Energy Industries is a division within the Process Automation business area. Energy Industries operates in the field of plant automation and electrical power for electrical power generating plants such as thermal, hydro and nuclear power, pharmaceutical and chemical plants and combined heat and power plants. The division covers everything from instrumentation, control and regulation technology, automation, electric power systems including generator connections to information systems and process optimization based on ABB's products.

Placement is desirable in Västerås but other locations can be evaluated according to competence profile. We are also located in Kista, Malmö, Mölndal and Umeå.

  • You will be responsible for the technical coordination and review of the design work for your projects and work closely with other engineers and project managers in the project team.
  • You are the one who supports the project managers and sometimes the quotation engineers with your deep technical knowledge in, among other things, electrical power and plant design.
  • You work closely with our customers and travel within Sweden for technical meetings with customers as well as site visits.
  • You work with the design of electrical systems where the projects vary in size and can include feasibility studies, system and detail design of e.g. switchgear (medium and low voltage), relay protection, UPS, drive systems and control cabinets, documentation and testing, as well as commissioning for components and systems.
  • You ensure that the right technical solution is developed in accordance with specification, standards and safety requirements, which may also include participation in FAT/plant testing before delivery.
  • You share ABB's core values of safety and integrity, which means that you take responsibility for your own actions while protecting your colleagues and the business.


Your background

  • We are looking for you who have an engineering degree and/or at least 7 years of work experience in electrical and/or plant engineering or industrial electrical power engineering/electrical plant.
  • You have a genuine technical interest and experience in electrical power and/or plant engineering. Experience from commissioning assignments is also to your advantage.
  • It is meritorious if you have worked with electric power generating plants and have an understanding of customers' processes.
  • As a person, you are careful and good at prioritizing and planning your everyday life and you are customer-oriented and have a good sense of quality at all levels.
  • You have a good collaborative ability and are used to working in teams, are goal-oriented and communicative. It is an advantage if you have good leadership qualities or previous experience of leading teams, but not a requirement.
  • You speak and write in Swedish and English without difficulty.
  • You have a B driving license as travel in the service occurs.
