Manufacturing Unit Manager

__

We are currently recruiting for the role of Production Manager for Motor Testing, where you will be part of Motors & Generators, Machines in Västerås. The unit, which is part of the Motors & Generators business area, develops, manufactures, and sells synchronous AC machines in the 1MW power range and larger, for motor and generator applications. Our production encompasses everything from machining, winding, and punching to final assembly and testing of all our machines.

Do you possess strong, positive leadership skills and are driven by improvement and development? If so, you might just be the person we’re looking for. As a production manager with us, you will be offered an exciting and varied role. You will lead a team of approximately 20 skilled employees, and together you will work to continuously improve the department’s results and performance. You will work closely with support functions such as planning and production engineering, as well as the production manager and your fellow production managers. Customer dialogue and working with customer quality controls are also part of your daily routine.

Your responsibilities

  • Managerial responsibility for personnel and the work environment, as well as responsibility for electrical safety in testing operations.
  • Leading efforts to foster a positive work culture where we enjoy our jobs and deliver excellent products to our customers.
  • Ensuring the team delivers on time and with the right quality to the next stage of the process and meets the department’s productivity targets.
  • Ensure sound financial management and delivery on our financial goals and budget.
  • You will work closely with your team and the support functions available to continuously develop the team in terms of health, safety, productivity, and flexibility.
  • You are part of the workshop management team and report to our production manager.
  • You contribute to the work of the production management team and collaborate with other production managers and support functions.
  • You share ABB’s core values regarding safety and integrity, which means you take responsibility for your own actions while also feeling accountable for your colleagues and the business.

You will be based at Motion Finnslätten in Västerås. This is an important role for us, and we want you to be on-site—in the office, the test lab, and the production area.

Your Background

  • We are looking for someone with experience in electrical or mechanical testing within a manufacturing environment and at least a couple of years of experience working in some form of leadership role. It is advantageous if you have a relevant academic degree in, for example, industrial economics or engineering, or experience working with electrical safety.
  • You are confident in your leadership and actively work to engage and inspire those around you to achieve change and good results together. You do this by being an accessible and visible leader who fosters a direct, clear, and open dialogue.
  • You have experience with LEAN and are motivated by working with problem-solving and continuous improvement.
  • You are administratively skilled with a strong understanding of finance, which makes you comfortable conducting analyses for future development. In this role, you need the ability to think strategically in an operational environment.
  • You can communicate in Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing.
