Role and Responsibilities

Would you like to help lead technical solutions for some of Sweden’s most important industrial and energy facilities? As a Project Lead Engineer Electrical at ABB, you’ll play a central role in our projects, where you’ll be responsible for technical coordination from design through delivery. Here, you’ll combine your deep expertise in electrical power with close customer collaboration, technical leadership, and the opportunity to contribute to the sustainable energy systems of the future.

Preference is given to a location in Västerås, but Kista is also an option.

  • You will be responsible for the technical coordination and review of the design work for your projects and will work closely with other engineers and project managers on the project team.
  • You will support the project managers and, at times, the bid engineers with your in-depth technical expertise in areas such as electrical power and facility design.
  • You will work closely with our customers and travel within Sweden for technical meetings with customers as well as site visits.
  • You will work on the design of electrical systems, with projects varying in size and potentially including preliminary studies, system and detailed design of, among other things, switchgear (medium- and low-voltage), relay protection, UPS, drive systems and control cabinets, documentation and testing, as well as commissioning of components and systems.
  • You will ensure that the correct technical solution is developed in accordance with specifications, standards, and safety requirements, which may also include participating in FAT/on-site testing prior to delivery.
  • You share ABB’s core values regarding safety and integrity, which means you take responsibility for your own actions while also looking out for your colleagues and the business.

Your Background

  • We are looking for someone with an engineering degree and/or at least 7 years of professional experience in electrical and/or plant design or industrial electrical power engineering/electrical installations.
  • You have a genuine interest in technology and experience in electrical power and/or plant design. Experience with commissioning projects is also a plus.
  • It is advantageous if you have worked with power generation facilities and have an understanding of our customers’ processes.
  • As a person, you are meticulous and skilled at prioritizing and planning your daily work; you are customer-oriented and have a keen eye for quality at every stage.
  • You have strong collaboration skills and are accustomed to working in a team; you are goal-oriented and communicative. It is advantageous if you possess strong leadership qualities or have previous experience leading teams, though this is not a requirement.
  • You speak and write Swedish and English fluently.
  • You hold a Class B driver’s license, as travel is required for this position.
