Project Operations Manager

Your role and responsibilities

At ABB Process Industries, we offer a range of solutions within automation, electrification and digital solutions. The fourth industrial revolution is here and we at ABB have decided to be at the forefront of this new industrial era. We see a trend of increased growth in electrification and process automation as emerging markets. To meet demand, ABB has set high goals and a strong strategy with an increased focus on sustainable system deliveries.

As the business is growing, we are now increasing our capacity in our project office by hiring a project manager, located in Luleå or Skellefteå. As a project manager, we offer you a strong development position where you get the opportunity to work with the latest technology, develop your knowledge and be part of a fantastic team. If you are passionate about helping our customers become more competitive and reduce their global footprint by setting a new standard in the Swedish process industry, do not hesitate to submit your application. We truly believe that diversity makes us even better and welcome all applicants who can in some way contribute to broadening our diversity.

The role of project manager with us means ensuring a fantastic customer experience when delivering electrical power plants containing everything from 130kV to low voltage and control systems. In practice, this means leading and running all parts of the projects. For example:

•Support to sales engineers with contracts, work environment, finance and planning issues.

•Discussions and negotiations with clients.

•Management of timetables, contracts, resource assignment, finance and quality assurance.

•Work management of other project participants such as electrical designers, programmers and operators.

•Purchasing and operation of interfaces with subcontractors of, for example, electrical installation, switchgear, transformers, earthwork and construction work.

•Risk assessments and prevention of accidents and incidents.

•Follow-up and support to the client after delivery.

•Development of the business's services and strategies.

In smaller projects, it is common to have a broader area of responsibility, while in larger projects it works better with a higher specialization, whereby each person can focus more on the areas where they are more experienced.

The role is demanding but also fun, partly because you get to follow a project from start-up to finished facility, but also because you get to design the facility together with the client.

The project manager reports to the Project Operations Manager for the local business line Mining in Sweden and is part of our project office with eight project managers located at ABB's office in Norrland from Umeå to Kiruna.

Qualifications for the role

  • An engineering degree or equivalent education/work experience.
  • Background in project management, preferably at least 2 years.
  • Experience of running industrial projects is advantageous.
  • You are results-oriented, strategic and have a structured work methodology.
  • As a person, you are curious and have the drive to constantly develop, and as a leader you are unpretentious and enjoy leading and coordinating the work we do together with our customers. You share ABB's fundamental values regarding safety and integrity and take responsibility for your own actions, your colleagues and business operations.
  • As you will be working in a global company, you need to be fluent in Swedish and English in both speech and writing and have a B driver's license, as this periodically involves traveling within the region.
  • If you want to challenge yourself and build the foundation for an exciting future within ABB, we are looking for you! Bring your own pride and sense of purpose as you help us drive the Fourth Industrial Revolution forward – creating a sustainable future for our planet and your career. Join ABB and harness the power of our diverse global network as you collaborate with and learn from our world-class teams. Above all, challenge yourself every day. Let's write the future together.
