Role and Responsibilities

At ABB Machines in Västerås, we design and manufacture high-quality, energy-efficient motors and generators that are delivered to customers all over the world. Now we are looking for a dedicated Test Room Technician who wants to be involved in ensuring that every control cabinet delivered together with our machines is of the highest quality.

As a Test Room Technician, you will be a valuable part of our team responsible for final testing and verification of our customized control cabinets before delivery. You will work in a technically challenging and diverse environment, performing tests, measurements and verifying PLC and protective relay programs. In addition, you will meet and collaborate with customers from all over the world when they visit us to follow our final acceptance tests (FAT),

Your main tasks will include:

  • Performing final tests of control cabinets to magnetization systems, including electrical connection, measurements and verification of PLC and protection relay programs.
  • Troubleshooting and identifying electrical problems and software errors in the control cabinets.
  • Collaborate with designers, production personnel and customers during the testing process.
  • Active contribution to continuous improvement and safety initiatives within the department.

Your background

  • Experience in testing or commissioning electrical equipment, including control cabinets or test systems, preferably with training in electrical power engineering, automation or control systems
  • Good understanding of PLC programming, electrical schematics and control systems. Knowledge of motor control principles, such as start/stop, frequency control and protection relay systems is merited.
  • Practical experience in wiring, adjusting and troubleshooting electrical control cabinets, as well as knowledge of electrical measurement methods (multimeter, insulation tester). Experience with FREJA/Sverker or other signal generator systems is merited.
  • Structured and safety conscious with the ability to document test results, communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with both colleagues and customers.
  • Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written, as well as good knowledge of Microsoft Office.
