The Electrical, Automation & Industrial IT section in the Life Science business area is now looking for a DCS Automation Engineer who wants to help shape the future together with us at AFRY.

About the role 

As a DCS Automation Engineer, you will be a key player in developing, commissioning and maintaining our distributed control systems (DCS) in a high-tech and GMP-regulated Life Science production environment where travel may occur.  

You will: 

As a DCS Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for configuring, programming and optimizing DCS systems to ensure stable and efficient operation. You participate in projects from design and construction to commissioning and validation. You perform troubleshooting and preventive maintenance of control systems and process equipment and integrate DCS with PLC, SCADA and/or MES systems. You ensure that all automation solutions meet GMP, GAMP 5 and regulatory requirements. In addition, you participate in technical discussions and design phases of automation solutions, FAT/SAT, qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ) and documentation, and contribute to improvement projects and implementation of new technologies where travel may occur.  

Examples of systems and equipment you will work with 

  • Siemens PCS 7, ABB 800xA, Emerson DeltaV or similar DCS platforms 
  • Batch control and recipe systems 
  • Process equipment for pharmaceutical manufacturing (e.g. mixers, reactors, etc.mixers, reactors, filling lines) 
  • Industrial networks and communication protocols (Profibus, Profinet, OPC) 

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have: 

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in automation in the process industry 
  • Documented experience in DCS configuration, programming and commissioning. 
  • Good knowledge of Swedish and English (spoken and written)  
  • Experience in Life Science, pharmaceutical industry, food industry, health care, nuclear power or other regulated industry

Additional is: 

  • Technical education at college/university level in automation, electrical engineering, mechatronics or equivalent. 
  • Experience with integration between DCS and PLC/SCADA/MES. 
  • Worked with batch control and recipe systems  
  • Experience with GMP and validation work.
