AFRY’s Food business area is characterized by extensive industry experience and a high level of expertise in project management, process design, plant engineering, automation, and quality assurance. As one of AFRY’s strategically selected segments, Food is an area on which we are placing a special global focus.

Our business concept is to both manage and further develop our project business as well as our turnkey projects. We are in a strong growth phase and continue to expand, both nationally and internationally.

About the role

As an automation engineer with us in Gothenburg, you will work closely with experienced colleagues on projects focused on the food industry. Together, we help our customers develop, streamline, and optimize their operations.

We work on a project basis, where each assignment is tailored to the customer’s specific needs and circumstances—which makes every project unique. That’s why we’d like you to be flexible, adaptable, and enjoy new challenges.

  • PLC programming
  • System design and technical solutions
  • Quotation preparation
  • Electrical design
  • Project management
  • Commissioning
  • Service and maintenance

The team consists of 14 people in various roles, with about half working primarily on PLC programming and half on electrical design. Most have extensive experience in the industry, and we have a strong culture of collaboration and knowledge sharing. There is a wealth of expertise to draw upon here—and excellent opportunities for you to grow, from a junior position to becoming a highly skilled automation engineer.

Qualifications

Who are you?

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • Relevant education in automation and/or electrical design, or
  • A strong interest in the field and, for example, currently works as an operations or maintenance technician and wants to advance their career in automation.
  • A Class B driver’s license
  • The ability to read and understand electrical schematics

We place great emphasis on personal qualities. You are curious, down-to-earth, and sociable, with strong teamwork skills and a clear commitment to delivering high-quality work. You are flexible and open to meeting customers’ varying needs.

You have a strong command of Swedish and English, both spoken and written. You enjoy working on projects, have a positive attitude toward new challenges, and are eager to share your ideas and experiences. At the same time, you are self-motivated, take responsibility, and work in a structured manner even when working independently.

The position involves travel, averaging 20–40 days per year, both within and outside Sweden.

Desirable qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Siemens Classic and/or TIA Portal
  • Work experience as an operations technician with PLCs
  • General programming experience or a strong interest in programming
  • Experience with electrical design tools such as ElProCAD, EPLAN, or equivalent
