Job Description

We are seeking an automation engineer with many years of experience in Siemens SIMATIC PCS 7 and process-oriented automation systems. In this role, you will work on the design, configuration, and implementation of DCS solutions in projects ranging from the concept phase through FAT/SAT to commissioning. You will be involved throughout the entire lifecycle—from requirements analysis and system architecture to programming, testing, and documentation. Typical tasks include:

  • System design and programming of DCS/PLC/SCADA solutions
  • Migration and upgrading of existing automation platforms
  • Integration of field instrumentation, networks, and communication protocols (e.g., Profibus, Profinet, OPC UA)
  • Conducting verification and validation in accordance with applicable standards
  • Delivery of functional commitments and complete system solutions

The work takes place both at the customer’s site and in our in-house projects, where you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams within Automation West—a segment with approximately 60 engineers and technical specialists in Gothenburg and Varberg. We work according to established project models and use tools such as COMOS, TIA Portal, WinCC, and PCS 7 Engineering System.

Qualifications

You are an analytical and solution-oriented engineer with a strong understanding of systems and experience working in complex project environments. You have a strong ability to translate requirements specifications into technical solutions and are comfortable documenting according to standardized methods. You thrive in working on parallel project streams and have a structured approach to your work.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A degree in civil engineering or a bachelor’s degree in engineering, or a degree from a vocational college, or equivalent experience and knowledge.
  • Several years of experience in the design and implementation of process automation systems.
  • In-depth expertise in Siemens SIMATIC PCS 7.
  • Experience with other DCS/PLC/SCADA platforms (e.g., ABB 800xA, Emerson DeltaV, Honeywell).
  • Class B driver’s license and some availability to travel within Sweden.
  • Excellent communication skills in Swedish and English, both verbal and written

Desirable:

  • Experience with model-based simulation (e.g., SIMIT, MATLAB/Simulink).
  • Experience with system upgrades and migration of legacy systems.
  • Knowledge of ISA-88/ISA-95 and industrial automation standards

This position may require you to work on our security-classified projects. This means that a security clearance check will be conducted in accordance with Swedish security protection legislation. To meet the requirements, you must hold citizenship that complies with the provisions of the Security Protection Ordinance, and there must be no impediments according to the criteria for security clearance
