Job Description

Would you like to work with some of Sweden’s most advanced automation solutions and play a key role in shaping the future of industry?

AFRY Advanced Automation in Halmstad helps the industry develop safe, efficient, and sustainable production facilities using Siemens SIMATIC PCS7 as a central platform. We work closely with our clients in sectors such as process and energy, and manage projects ranging from feasibility studies and system design to commissioning, optimization, and further development.

We are now looking for an experienced automation engineer who wants to take on a leading technical role in our projects and contribute specialized expertise in Siemens PCS7.

As a Senior Automation Engineer with us, you will be an important part of our customers’ development journey. You will work to analyze needs, develop technical solutions, and ensure that our automation systems deliver high operational reliability and long-term business value. In some projects, you’ll follow the entire process from concept and design to the completed facility, while in other projects you’ll contribute cutting-edge expertise in PCS7 to specific parts of the project.

The role also involves responsibility for planning, coordinating, and monitoring automation deliveries. You’ll work closely with project managers, designers, process engineers, and customers to ensure that projects are executed with the right quality, on schedule, and with the appropriate technical solutions.

The work is varied and rewarding. One week you might be working on the development of a new control system for a large production facility, while the next week you’ll focus on optimizing, troubleshooting, migrating, or upgrading existing PCS7 environments. You will work both from our office in Halmstad, on-site at client locations, and in collaboration with AFRY’s national automation organization.

You will be part of a dedicated team with high technical expertise in automation, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and project management. Knowledge sharing is a natural part of our daily work, and we’d love for you to serve as a mentor and provide technical support to more junior colleagues.

At AFRY, there is also a strong network of automation specialists where you’ll have the opportunity to collaborate with experienced PCS7 experts from across the organization. Through knowledge forums, the sharing of experiences, and exciting client projects, you’ll have excellent opportunities to continue developing your skills within the Siemens platform and related technologies.

The industry is undergoing rapid technological development, where digitalization, modernization, and system upgrades are becoming increasingly important. That’s why we’re looking for someone who is curious about new technology, driven by solving complex challenges, and eager to help shape the automation solutions of the future.

Qualifications

In this role, it is important that you have a strong sense of planning and structure. You work methodically and are accustomed to managing complex system environments, such as Siemens PCS7, where you break down tasks into clear steps and ensure the quality of the deliverables. Accuracy and attention to detail are an integral part of your work style.

We also value integrity. You prioritize the team’s and the organization’s goals and always act professionally, especially in projects where PCS7 is business-critical to the customer’s operations.

Finally, communication is a key competency. You express yourself openly and honestly, listen to others’ perspectives, and foster dialogue—both internally and in customer collaborations, where you often serve as a technical expert in PCS7.
