Company description

AFRY offers services in engineering, design, digitalization and consulting. We are dedicated experts in industry, energy and infrastructure, creating value for future generations. AFRY has a global reach with deep roots in the Nordics. Together we accelerate the transition to a more sustainable society.

Job description

Our Mining and Blasting section in Gothenburg needs reinforcement. We consist of both younger and experienced colleagues in rock engineering, blasting technology and environmental impact. Now there is an opportunity for you who have experience in blasting technology to become part of our successful team.

In this role, you will work with complex blasting technology challenges and manage risks and find solutions. You will, among other things, evaluate and optimize method choices to ensure feasibility, develop project-adapted solutions and draw up execution regulations.

The role involves broad development opportunities as AFRY is active in large infrastructure projects and our section collaborates daily with other AFRY offices around Sweden and the world. We work with blasting challenges for both clients and contractors in most sectors such as construction, industry, road, rail, tunnel and quarries.

We offer a dynamic work environment where you work in the different phases of the project, from design and technical investigations in the early stages to follow-up and control of the work in the construction phase.

You will be part of our nationwide rock engineering network and work closely with our specialists in rock engineering, rock mechanics and vibration analysis to create sustainable and safe solutions.

Duties:

  • Risk management: rockfall, dolor, vibrations, work environment etc.
  • Method selection: feasibility, solutions, protective measures, execution regulations
  • Environmental impact: risk analysis, vibration investigation, vibration measurement
  • Final product: gentle blasting, rock contours
  • Field work: inventory, site monitoring

Qualifications

We are primarily looking for you who have "two legs" to stand on, where one leg consists of a background in blasting technology. The other leg can either consist of experience working with environmental impact or rock engineering. In many projects, these three technical areas are dependent on each other, which is why it is important to understand the whole.

You should have experience of blasting work in production and have an understanding of production technical conditions and challenges.

To fit into the role, you need to enjoy working with people. You should have good communication, structuring and coordination skills. Accuracy and quality should permeate your work. Since you often work in parallel in several assignments, you need to be able to create structure in your everyday life and to be able to manage your assignments and projects in the best way for both yourself and your customers.

You will be an assignment leader and have responsibility towards the customer and follow schedules and budgets. In the role, your technical knowledge is important and we would like you to have a few years of experience in the industry. It is an advantage if you already have a broad network of clients and colleagues in the industry.

It is important that you are communicative and enjoy being AFRY's representative with clients. You have a natural openness and curiosity for new assignments. As our clients often communicate in Swedish and English, it is a requirement that you can also do this in speech and writing. Writing reports and statements will be part of the work.

You should have a university degree in a relevant field. Day trips to workplaces within the region occur, hence you must have a driving license.
