Company Description

AFRY is a European leader in engineering, design, and advisory services, with a global reach. We accelerate the transition towards a sustainable society. We are 19,000 devoted experts in infrastructure, industry, energy, and digitalisation, creating sustainable solutions for generations to come.

Job Description

About the Role: We are seeking a skilled engineer for a client-specific assignment, focusing on the design and verification of high-power amplifiers (60-100W per branch). This role involves ensuring that amplifiers meet the required output power while maintaining optimal performance, efficiency, and thermal management. You will conduct rigorous testing to verify amplifier performance under various operational conditions, ensuring optimal signal integrity and power efficiency. Your work will include debugging amplifiers when parameters do not meet specifications, ensuring the reliability and robustness of transistors and power amplifiers. Additionally, you will apply thermal management concepts to transistors and components, understand linearization techniques, and collaborate with PAX mechanics. Comprehensive radio performance testing will also be part of your responsibilities to ensure product quality.

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will have:

  • Basic RF knowledge
  • Experience in RF radio labs and with relevant instruments
  • Experience in uplink and downlink RF analogue systemizations
  • Understanding of PA basic architectures (Classes AB, B, F, Doherty, etc.)
  • Familiarity with PA parameters: Psat, Gain, AMPM, Eff, ACLR, OBUE, CW/modulated/xTone measurements, baseband-linearity concepts
  • Ability to debug a PA when parameters are not meeting specs
  • Reliability/Robustness of transistors/PAs
  • Thermal concepts for transistors/PAs (and components)
  • Understanding of linearization concepts
  • Knowledge of GaN and its challenges: trapping, drifts, variabilities
  • Knowledge of PAX mechanics (coins, preforms, building practice, etc.)
  • Basic physics concepts of transistors
  • Ability to measure the parameters mentioned above
  • Understanding of link/power budgets
  • Measurement and instrument knowledge
  • Performing comprehensive radio performance tests to ensure product quality
