Your role—and why it’s important 

As an automation engineer, you’ll playa key role in our projects, from the initial idea to a real, functioning facility. In practice, this means you’ll work with:

• Programmingand configuration of control systems to create efficient and smart solutions 
• Renovations and modernizations of existing facilities where you’ll combine analysis, problem-solving, and engineering
• New turnkey projects, where you take responsibility from start to final delivery

In the long term, we’d like to see youyou’ll grow into a more leadership- and coaching-oriented role, where you’ll mentor our junior engineers and contribute to the team’s professional development. Here, the role is shaped by both our clients’ needs and your own strengths and motivations.

Qualifications

We’re looking for an experienced automation engineer who wants to help drive advanced automation solutions at AFRY. This role is ideal for someone who considers themselves to be at the mid-career or senior level and has several years of experience in automation, along with a relevant degree or equivalent professional experience.

You are self-motivated, proactive, and thrive in project-based teams where you take responsibility for complex projects. We value your problem-solving skills, your business-oriented approach, and your ability to build strong relationships. With us, you’ll work closely with clients and colleagues on exciting projects across various industries.

Requirements

• Several years of experience in automation
• Relevant education or equivalent work experience
• Experience in industries such as automotive, process manufacturing, water & wastewater, or energy & heating
• You are fluent in spoken and written Swedish and English
• Class B driver’s license
• Knowledge and experience with systems such as: SIMATIC PCS7, ABB 800xA

Desirable

• Experience in the pharmaceutical/life sciences or manufacturing industries
• Knowledge of systems such as: AVEVA System Platform, Siemens TIA, and other DCS/PLC/SCADA systems
• Experience with older ABB products such as AC450 and MP200, as well as system upgrades
