Job description

With a proud history and an exciting future, the nuclear industry is the place where you can make a real difference in shaping tomorrow's energy landscape. At AFRY Nuclear, we run projects and perform assignments in several technical areas; mechanical/process, electrical/automation, construction and industry-specific areas such as reactor safety and radioactive waste. We have a broad competence and carry out projects of different sizes ranging from component replacements to complex modernization projects.

To our team at Nuclear, which focuses on mechanical and process design, we are now looking for our next colleague who wants to make a difference for the future of nuclear power. In the role of development engineer, you will focus on mechanical design in nuclear power. You will have the opportunity to work in exciting consulting assignments where your assignment will include, but not be limited to, the following tasks:

  • Develop design documentation at system or detail level for mechanical systems
  • Responsible for requirements and dimensioning of mechanical systems
  • Conduct technical analyzes and designs of systems at component and system level
  • Develop technical specifications and work with qualification and development of control plans.
  • Participate in procurements

In this role, you will be part of a team of 6 dedicated colleagues in Uppsala and Västerås. Together we work closely together and help both each other and our customers to develop. In this role, you will have great opportunities to grow through complex and long-term assignments in a growing industry in the middle of the energy transition. The assignments are generally carried out through a hybrid solution where work from the office is combined with travel to the customers' facilities on a weekly basis.

Qualifications

To succeed in the role, we see that you thrive on immersing yourself in complex issues. You are self-driven and like to take your own initiative to find solutions and drive the work forward. Since you will have parallel tasks and assignments, it is also important that you can plan and structure your work to ensure both efficiency and accuracy. You thrive on collaboration and are happy to contribute knowledge and ideas while being curious to continue learning and developing from others. You are clear in your dialog and value building and nurturing trusting relationships, both with customers and colleagues.

What kind of knowledge and experience do you need?

  • Experience working with the development of mechanical processes and systems, alt. design of mechanical components
  • High school or civil engineering degree in relevant field
  • Good knowledge of Swedish in both speech and writing
  • B-driving license

We see it as meritorious if you have:

  • Experience of working in the nuclear industry
  • Experience of working with processes in heavy industries or in the energy field

Because the position operates in security classified areas, you will be required to undergo drug tests and security checks before employment can begin. For all recruitments at AFRY, an ID check, reference checks and verification of education are always carried out prior to employment.
