Job description
Introduction
The construction industry is digitizing. Today, entire buildings can be constructed using a digital model as a precise basis. This means that a considerable amount of information must be able to be read from the building model, which places great demands on it being complete and error-free. To make it easier for the designer, new tools are needed to automate and streamline the work. Development is needed in areas such as calculation, accounting and quality assurance and the link between them.
AFRY has previously developed parametric models for both global structures such as steel halls and stabilizing towers and isolated structures such as column foundations. The models have streamlined the design work and contributed to higher quality in the BIM and calculation models. The proposed thesis will continue this work.
Topic
There is a great potential in automation and parametric modeling of pillar foundations both in terms of calculation and reporting as today's tools often have limitations or require a large amount of manual input. Especially in early stages, the time savings can be great.
The thesis includes the following:
1.
1. review of previous studies and development work within AFRY.
2. development of an algorithm for calculation, dimensions and modeling of piled column foundations
3. development of application with connection to Tekla API.
4. Testing and implementation of the software.
5. Comparison with traditional methods.
Aim and objective
To develop a complete application for calculation, dimensioning and modeling of piled column foundations to streamline its design and accounting.
Qualifications
You are expected to have studied a civil engineering or master's degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering with a focus on building construction. For this thesis you also need to have basic knowledge in programming and/or a strong interest in learning more about software development. The thesis is carried out from AFRY's office in Stockholm and preferably in groups of two.
