At AFRY in Gothenburg and Varberg, we have a very high level of broad expertise in Industrial IT and automation, with approximately 40 automation engineers, electrical designers, and project managers across various industries such as paper and pulp, water and wastewater treatment, energy, process, and automotive.

Job Description

We at AFRY in Gothenburg are now looking for an electrical design engineer who will play a key role in our projects. You will work with automation solutions for industrial clients and other customers, ensuring that electrical design requirements are met from the initial concept through to the completed installation. 

As an electrical design engineer , you’ll play a central role in our assignments—sometimes throughout the entire project process, from sales support to commissioning, and sometimes as a specialist in specific parts of ongoing projects. The work is varied, with both longer-term assignments that provide continuity and shorter stints on various projects. You’ll primarily be based at our office on Grafiska Vägen, but assignments may also involve working at a client’s site or remotely. 

In this role, you’ll be expected to take a leading role and have overall responsibility for electrical design, commissioning, and documentation. You’ll serve as an important mentor to our junior colleagues and actively contribute to knowledge sharing within the team. With us, you’ll receive support through AFRY’s Competence Forum, where you can exchange experiences with senior engineers and develop your own expertise.

Looking ahead, we expect system development to continue evolving, which means you’ll have the opportunity to work with new platforms and environments. In the future, the role may also include security-classified assignments. 

Qualifications

We’re looking for someone who is dedicated, curious, and interested in technology. You have:

• Post-secondary education in a relevant technical field
• Several years of experience in electrical design within industrial automation
• Strong proficiency in CAD tools such as Eplan and/or ElproCad
• A Class B driver’s license, as the position involves travel to client sites
• Excellent written and spoken Swedish and English

Experience with electrical cabinet design, machine safety, and cost estimation is a plus, as is knowledge of sizing calculations and selective plans, along with experience using multiple CAD tools.
