Job Description

At AFRY Advanced Automation in Västerås, we’re helping to develop some of Sweden’s most exciting industrial and automation projects. Our clients are investing in modernization, digitalization, and new production facilities, creating a growing need for skilled electrical design expertise.

We are now looking for an experienced electrical design engineer who wants to play a central role in our projects and contribute cutting-edge technical expertise throughout the entire project lifecycle. With us, you’ll have the opportunity to combine technical depth with a high degree of personal responsibility in assignments ranging from feasibility studies and system design to installation, commissioning, and handover.

Your role: from concept to operational facility As a senior electrical design engineer, you’ll work on industrial automation and electrical systems, where you’ll be responsible for ensuring that technical solutions are developed with high quality, safety, and functionality. You’ll be an integral part of our multidisciplinary project teams and will collaborate closely with automation engineers, project managers, process engineers, and customers.

Depending on the scope of the project, you may be responsible for the entire electrical design deliverable or serve as a specialist in specific technical areas. The role offers great variety and the opportunity to influence both technical solutions and work methods.

Your responsibilities will include, among other things:

• Electrical design for industrial facilities and automation projects
• Preparation of technical documentation, circuit diagrams, and installation drawings
• Design of power, control, and automation systems
• Technical coordination with other disciplines within the project organization
• Review and quality assurance of technical solutions
• Commissioning, testing, and verification at the customer’s site
• Communication with customers, suppliers, and contractors
• Mentoring and knowledge sharing with junior colleagues

Qualifications

We’re looking for someone who is results-oriented, focused on achieving goals and maintaining productivity even when challenges arise. You have strong problem-solving skills, handle complex situations, and apply your experience flexibly. In addition, you are a self-starter, make your own decisions, and act confidently even when not everything is planned in detail. 

Requirements  Work Experience:  

• At least 5 years of relevant experience in electrical design within industrial production facilities 

Education:  

• Relevant formal education in electrical engineering/electrical design/electrical power, or equivalent practical experience 

System Knowledge:  

• Experience with AutoCAD tools
• Ability to handle and understand customer requirements and documentation systems
• EPC ElMaster

Language skills:  

• Spoken and written Swedish and English 

Desirable Qualifications: Work Experience:

• Experience working in a project-based environment
• Experience with automation projects related to industrial drive systems 
• Process experience from the manufacturing industry, process industry, and water and wastewater 

Education:  

• Engineering degree in electrical engineering, electrical design, or electrical power with an industrial focus 

System knowledge:
