Job Description
We have a lot going on here, and to meet the growing demand for our services, we’re now looking for someone who wants to work as an Electrical Inspection Technician. We conduct inspection audits of electrical and fire protection systems, perform work at heights on masts and towers to inspect steel structures, radio communication equipment, and wind turbines, as well as the inspection and verification of civil defense shelters. We also handle the design and inspection of solar panels, the inspection and testing of telecommunications facilities, construction site safety coordination, and serve as the responsible supervisor under the Planning and Building Act, among many other tasks. Our clients range from municipalities, property owners, regions, and the Church of Sweden to contractors, public sector organizations, and industry.
The role of “Inspection Engineer” within the Public and Commercial Places segmentprimarily involves the inspection of electrical installations and systems, mainly in the real estate, industrial, and public administration sectors. The role also offers opportunities to work with electrical safety assessments, risk analyses, thermography, contractor inspections, or other investigations, as well as potential electrical design work. The job requires a solid foundation of knowledge, both practical and theoretical.
At our offices, you’ll meet colleagues from both your own electrical engineering section and other sections in disciplines such as HVAC, Energy, Fire Safety, Control Systems, and more. In Karlstad, you’ll work closely with other electrical inspectors. You’ll be part of a team of dedicated and open-minded colleagues who are happy to share their knowledge and experience.
In the long term, other types of inspections—not limited to electrical systems—may also become available for the right candidate. For those who demonstrate successful performance as an inspector, opportunities for further training to conduct inspections in other areas may open up.
The position is based at our office in Karlstad, where you’ll draft reports, schedule new inspections, and handle administrative tasks; however, the role also involves spending time in the field conducting inspections.
Qualifications
We’re looking for a colleague who is interested in technology and stays up to date on current regulations. To succeed in this role, you need to be curious and eager to explore new opportunities and build your own client base. You are proactive, driven, self-motivated, and get things done. Of course, you’ll have a supportive team of colleagues around you. Reaching out to clients comes naturally to you. You communicate openly and honestly and aren’t afraid to address the errors and shortcomings highlighted in an inspection report, while remaining service-oriented and collaborative in your interactions with customers.
It is important that you can adhere to rules, procedures, and processes and demonstrate a high level of integrity in the role of inspector, as it can be a demanding role at times. At the same time, you must be adaptable and responsive to the expectations of both the client and the team. You have a humble attitude and are able to both receive and provide feedback. In this role, both the personal qualities mentioned above and technical skills are essential for success in communication and delivering results.
We’re looking for someone with at least one year of experience as an electrical engineer or an experienced electrician who is accustomed to leading and taking responsibility. You must have broad and extensive experience in the electrical field—both theoretical and practical—as well as several years of experience working with industrial facilities or power grids. You have a degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with a focus on electrical systems.
If you are a certified thermographer or hold a certification from the Swedish Electrical Safety Authority and have worked for a few years as an electrical inspector, this is a plus. Experience with industrial electrical installations, substations, transformers, or backup power is a plus.
Knowledge of AutoCAD is a plus. You have excellent command of both spoken and written Swedish and English. In addition, you have a Class B driver’s license and strong proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite. We assume you have the technical skills to manage our internal systems, such as IA risk analyses, PX, SAP Concur, SharePoint, and Teams.
