As an environmental consultant at AFRY, your assignments will vary, although we currently see the main needs in the industrial and energy segments, you may also work with infrastructure projects in rail and road, municipal plans or permits for water and environmentally hazardous activities. You will have the opportunity to participate in various assignments at local, regional and national level. We allow you to take great responsibility and offer ambitious skills development on an ongoing basis.

The main focus of the activities in contaminated areas is project and field work as well as ongoing contact with customers and regulatory authorities. Examples of tasks and responsibilities included in the role of environmental consultant in contaminated areas are to:

  • Work with the project manager to plan and carry out environmental soil investigations, risk assessments and remedial investigations
  • Carry out field work, both in soil, water and buildings
  • Act as environmental support and environmental controller in the remediation phase
  • Manage ongoing contact with customers, supervisory authority and waste facilities
  • Participate in construction and project meetings, both internally and externally
  • Report writing and preparation of notification cases to the supervisory authority

As a large part of the work tasks takes place in the form of outdoor field work, we see that you like to be outdoors and combine practical work with theoretical.

Qualifications

To succeed well and thrive in your role as an environmental and sustainability consultant, we are looking for you who have:

  • A post-secondary education, either YH or an academic scientific/technical education with a degree in the environmental field or equivalent
  • Very good collaboration skills and interest in learning from others and contributing with your experience
  • An analytical and strategic mindset with a good ability to see opportunities and solutions that add value to our customers
  • Very good knowledge of Swedish, both in speech and writing
  • B-driving license

It is meritorious, but not a requirement, if you have:

  • Experience in soil, ground and surface water sampling or SGF certification courses.
  • Experience in e.g. the industrial or infrastructure sector, or regulatory issues against contaminated sites from the municipal sector.
  • Experience working with clients and other stakeholders to discuss and present assignments and make recommendations
  • Experience working as a project manager or assignment leader
