Job Description

AFRY is looking for dedicated environmental consultants who want to help shape a sustainable future and contribute to the green transition. We are currently looking for a new colleague in the areas of natural environment, contaminated sites, EIA/permits, cultural environment, hydrogeology, and hydrology, based at our office in Sundsvall. We are primarily seeking senior and mid-level colleagues, but junior candidates will also be considered. We place great importance on you as a person contributing to and complementing our team.

Our Environment and Sustainability business area operates throughout Sweden, with clients in the private, municipal, and government sectors. Our work includes closed and active mines, power line projects, civil engineering, landfill operations, roads and railways, fossil-free steel, solar power, and onshore and offshore wind power. Our environmental expertise also supports other business areas within AFRY’s Industry, Energy, and Infrastructure divisions.

As an environmental consultant, your responsibilities will vary, and you will participate in projects at both the local and national levels. Assignments span fieldwork and inventories, urban development, environmental engineering site investigations, remediation studies, clean-up projects, environmental inspections, risk assessments, and the handling of notification and permitting matters. You may work with contaminated soil, ecology/natural value inventories, environmental impact assessments, consultations, and permitting matters, as well as holistically within sustainability.

In this role, you will be given significant independent responsibility and will participate in the entire process—from planning to execution—and you will always work in a team with your colleagues both locally and nationally.

Qualifications

Our requirements for candidate selection are that you have:

• Location: Östersund, with on-site work.
• A degree in the natural sciences or engineering with a focus on the environmental field. We also welcome applicants with vocational training in the environment and contaminated sites.
• Very good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written
• Basic knowledge of Swedish environmental legislation
• Enjoys working in the field, which also involves some travel to various locations throughout the country
• Class B driver’s license

It is advantageous, and candidates with the following will be prioritized:

• Previous experience working in the environmental field
• Previous experience as a consultant
• Experience with natural value inventories or sampling of soil, groundwater, and surface water, or SGF certification courses
• Experience working as a project manager or assignment manager
• Your own client contacts or the ability to provide references from previous jobs
