Job Description
AFRY’s environmental organization is now nationwide, with offices from Malmö to Kiruna, and through close collaboration across various technical disciplines, we form a strong, unified whole. In Sweden, we currently have just over 220 employees in the areas of Environment and Sustainability.
Service Area Environment and Sustainability North in Sundsvall, Örnsköldsvik, and Östersund currently consists of approximately 10 employees, distributed among the offices in Sundsvall, Örnsköldsvik, and Östersund, with specializations such as contaminated sites, permits and EIA, and the natural environment.
The advertised role of Group Manager can be based in either Sundsvall, Örnsköldsvik, or Östersund and reports to the Service Area Manager.
You’ll be offered a varied role with many points of contact and client meetings, where you’ll be responsible for your team members’ individual development and work environment. You’ll contribute to efforts related to strategy, profitability, marketing, quality, and skills and staff development. You’ll combine your managerial role with your own consulting work, for example as a project manager or technical specialist.
The work is primarily based at your location, but travel is required.
We’re looking for someone who enjoys combining personnel management with project work and who has an interest in teamwork, development, and skill enhancement. With us, you’ll help develop strong teams, drive business, build culture, and foster a sense of belonging, while also contributing to innovative and sustainable solutions in our projects. We hope you’ll learn just as much from us as we learn from you!
Qualifications
For this role, we expect you to have at least eight years of experience in the environmental field, including at least three years as an environmental consultant, and to be well-versed in the issues related to our technical areas of focus: environmental permits, natural environment, and/or contaminated land. You also have a solid understanding of Swedish environmental legislation.
You hold an academic degree in the environmental field with a focus on natural sciences or engineering. You have experience in consulting and have worked as a project manager.
You have previously demonstrated strong leadership skills and have a natural ability to engage and motivate others. We value your interpersonal skills and your willingness to develop and take on challenges—both technically and in business and leadership matters. You are business-driven and relationship-oriented, and it is an advantage if you have an established network in the industry. You see sharing your knowledge with both clients and colleagues as a given.
You are fluent in Swedish and English, both spoken and written. A Class B driver’s license is also required for this role.
Would you like to grow with us? We look forward to receiving your application.
At AFRY, we live by our core values: Brave – Devoted – Team players, which also says a lot about who we’re looking for! We place great emphasis on your personal qualities, as we value commitment, flexibility, and your ability to collaborate with others.
