Job Description

Do you want to help shape the sustainable society of the future? Then AFRY is the place for you!

With us, you’ll be part of a dedicated team working across a broad spectrum of community development. We’re driven by the goal of creating attractive, inclusive, and sustainable cities and communities. Our clients include municipalities, regions, and government agencies, as well as private sector partners.

As a Technical Manager, you’ll play a central role in our projects. You will be responsible for the budget, schedule, quality, and technical design within your discipline—from planning to implementation. The role also involves leading and supporting other consultants, as well as ensuring that our deliverables meet the client’s requirements and technical standards. Assignments range from smaller local projects to larger, long-term, and complex projects spanning several years

In your role, you will collaborate closely with the client, other technical disciplines, and various stakeholders to create integrated and sustainable solutions that meet the project’s needs. You will be based at one of our offices in Örebro, Västerås, or Uppsala.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering, or who has equivalent relevant professional experience. You have at least five years of experience in design and technical management within road, street, or land projects. You have strong knowledge of finance and business acumen, as well as experience managing budgets and resources with sound financial insight. We also expect you to have a solid understanding of the laws, standards, and technical guidelines that govern the industry, and to be able to ensure that our projects comply with applicable regulations and maintain high technical quality.

To succeed in this role, you need strong proficiency in Swedish and English, both spoken and written, as you will be collaborating with both national and international partners.

Since we work continuously with international partners, experience leading employees in other countries is a plus.

In summary, we are looking for a committed, organized, and technically skilled leader who wants to help ensure that our projects not only meet today’s requirements but also contribute to shaping the sustainable societies of the future.

Additional Information

As a consultant with us, you’ll never be alone in your assignments. Here, you’ll join an organization where strong teamwork, open knowledge-sharing platforms, and a broad professional network are a given.

You’ll have access to experienced colleagues, specialist expertise, mentorship, and several internal networks that help you grow—both in your role and in your projects. Whether you need a sounding board, technical expertise, methodological support, or just someone to discuss ideas with, the support structures are already in place.

We believe that a consultant’s strength comes from a combination of personal drive and a secure foundation to rely on. That’s why we offer:

  • Support from a dedicated team that guides you through every phase of the assignment
  • Multiple expertise networks where you meet colleagues with similar areas of focus
  • A culture that encourages collaboration, learning, and generosity
  • Access to both local and national networks, so you can always find the right expertise close to you

With us, you’re part of something bigger—a community where your ideas are valued, where you can grow, and where we work together to deliver the best possible results to our clients.

Application deadline: August 31, 2026. As the holiday season is approaching, responses may take longer than usual.
