AFRY offers services in engineering, design, digitalization, and consulting. We are dedicated experts in industry, energy, and infrastructure who create value for future generations. AFRY has a global reach with deep roots in the Nordic region. Together, we are accelerating the transition to a more sustainable society.
Job Description
Within the Civil Engineering Business Area and the Water Market Area’s Northern Region, we work across the entire water and wastewater sector, handling everything from early-stage planning and feasibility studies to detailed design, inspections, and training.
With climate change, urbanization, and increased demands for robust social infrastructure, the water and wastewater industry faces major and complex challenges. Changing precipitation patterns, torrential rains, droughts, and increased demands for drinking water safety are placing new demands on how we plan, build, and manage the water and wastewater systems of the future.
In this role, you will help shape sustainable and resilient solutions for the water and wastewater supply of the future through strategic and technical studies, such as water and wastewater plans and renewal plans, system analyses, feasibility studies, and the development of water and wastewater strategies, rate structures, and legal matters. The work often takes place in the early stages, where we conduct status and needs assessments that form the basis for strategic decisions, and also includes coordinating supporting documentation, decision-making processes, as well as studies and cost estimates with a focus on climate adaptation and sustainable resource use.
The projects you participate in will be tailored to your experience and interests and may involve technical, financial, and legal aspects. The role involves collaborating with colleagues at the local, regional, and national levels, as well as working with a broad client base in the private, municipal, and government sectors. You’ll have the opportunity to lead projects, contribute to innovation, and play an active role in developing a more sustainable and climate-resilient water and wastewater sector. You will be based at one of our offices in Norrbotten, Västerbotten, Jämtland, Västernorrland, Dalarna, or Gävleborg. Please specify your preferred location in your application.
Qualifications
You are a curious, driven, and committed individual with an interest in technology and societal issues within the water and wastewater sector. You thrive in a dynamic environment and find it easy to collaborate and communicate with both colleagues and clients.
You have relevant education (e.g., engineering degree) or equivalent experience from the water and wastewater industry, urban planning, consulting, or the public sector. You have several years of experience conducting studies in the water and wastewater sector. Experience leading projects with responsibility for planning, implementation, finance, and customer engagement is a plus.
Familiarity with regulations, technology, and systems perspectives in the water and wastewater sector is a plus. Experience working with a holistic approach to a municipality’s water and wastewater services, as well as leading work processes and contributing to the development of supporting documentation for strategic decisions in the water and wastewater sector, is also considered a plus.
As a person, you are analytical, business-minded, and have a holistic perspective. You are self-motivated, flexible, and comfortable building relationships and engaging in dialogue with decision-makers.
At AFRY, we place great importance on your personal qualities and operate based on our core values Brave – Devoted – Team Players.
