Job Description

As a fire safety consultant, you’ll work with structural fire protection and fire safety design in both new construction and renovation projects. You’ll be part of a skilled team within Safety, comprising about 150 employees who work in areas such as fire protection, risk management, occupational health and safety, machinery safety, and civil protection and emergency preparedness. Within fire protection, we are a team of employees with broad expertise and varying levels of experience who work together. Here, you’ll find an inclusive environment where collaboration and knowledge sharing are second nature. We share experiences, assignments, and expertise, and help each other grow, both locally and nationally.  

The role can be tailored based on experience and expertise and includes responsibilities such as:

• Consulting on structural fire protection
• Fire protection design and preparation of fire protection documentation
• Fire engineering investigations and analyses
• Analytical sizing and other calculations related to fire protection
• Project management and client contact
• Collaboration with architects, structural engineers, MEP disciplines, and other design professionals
• Participation in both local projects and larger international projects in sectors such as industry, energy, infrastructure, public buildings, and the green transition

The work is varied and project-based. A typical week might include design meetings, work on fire safety solutions and documentation, client dialogue, technical investigations, and coordination with other disciplines. Depending on the assignment, site visits and travel may also be required.

For more experienced employees, there is also the opportunity to take on greater responsibility as a specialist or project manager.

This role offers the opportunity to work from various locations, such as Kiruna, Gällivare, Luleå, Skellefteå, Umeå, Örnsköldsvik, Sundsvall, Östersund, Hudiksvall, Gävle, Borlänge, Uppsala, Stockholm, Västerås, Örebro, Eskilstuna, Norrköping, Karlstad, Gothenburg, Varberg, Halmstad, Karlskrona, Kalmar, Växjö, Oskarshamn, Jönköping, Karlshamn, or Malmö. Please indicate in your application where you would like to be based. Qualifications

Who are you?

We’re looking for someone who collaborates humbly with colleagues and other disciplines and actively contributes to finding good solutions together. It comes naturally to you to analyze complex fire safety issues, see the big picture, and translate requirements and theory into practical, implementable solutions. You take responsibility for your tasks and deliverables, drive the work forward, and ensure that your output is of high quality. When interacting with clients, colleagues, and other designers, you build trust, communicate clearly and professionally, and have the ability to adapt your communication to the audience and situation.  

What knowledge and experience do you need to succeed in this role?

• At least 1 year of relevant work experience as a fire safety consultant/fire safety engineer or in an equivalent role
• A degree in fire safety engineering or other academic education deemed to provide equivalent competence
• Experience in structural fire protection and fire protection design
• Experience independently managing tasks and delivering results in the field of fire protection
• A solid understanding of relevant regulations and requirements in structural fire protection
• Good general computer skills and the ability to work in relevant design and documentation environments
• Swedish and English—strong spoken and written proficiency.
• Class B driver’s license

What knowledge and experience are desirable for this role?

• Experience in project management and client relations
• Experience in analytical design, as well as fire engineering calculations and simulations
• Experience from large or complex industrial, energy, infrastructure, or civil engineering projects
• Experience in emergency services or other activities relevant to structural fire protection
• Advanced training in fire engineering/fire protection
• AutoCAD/Revit
