Job description

Together we face major societal challenges where energy issues play a central role. AFRY Future Energy Program is for you who are a newly graduated engineer and want to contribute to the energy transition. The program introduces you to the energy industry, gives you a secure start in the consulting role and allows you to work in real customer projects in parallel with a training program in the energy field. At the same time, you will build a valuable network within AFRY and develop your expertise.

Through the AFRY Future Energy Program, we aim to support your interest in working in the energy industry and give you a strong start in working life. If you want to be part of finding solutions to the challenges in the energy industry, this is your chance to start your career in the best possible way!

With over 800 hydropower engineers, AFRY is one of the world's largest hydropower consultancies and we want to be part of driving innovation and new technologies in the field as energy demand increases and the energy landscape changes. As a result of the increased energy demand, many existing power plants are in need of modernization and upgrading to increase energy efficiency, reliability and flexibility. This gives us the opportunity to utilize our long experience and expertise around the industry in new ways.

We are now looking for a number of junior consultants who want to be part of AFRY Hydro and contribute to a sustainable and fossil-free energy production. At AFRY, you will have the opportunity to work and develop with experts from all technical areas of hydropower, such as geology, geotechnics, rock, construction technology, sustainable hydropower/environment, hydraulics, turbine and generator technology as well as mechanics, electrical and automation and battery energy storage. We also have specialists in environmental adaptation and project managers to run all these different types of projects and are therefore also looking for juniors who want to develop in this area.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who want to work in one of our technical areas of expertise or towards project management and who have an interest in energy and hydropower. You are a university graduate, civil engineer or YH engineer with a specialization in, for example, electricity / automation, electric power, mechanics, construction / road and water, energy & environment or you have a degree in biology / ecology. You are at the beginning of your career and are attracted to the energy industry as well as the consulting role.

We attach great importance to your personal qualities and your potential to develop with us. We also know that personal competencies come in different packages and appearances - that's what creates innovation and makes life at AFRY so interesting! The most important thing for us is that you are a person who is motivated by creating good relationships and collaborating as the contact surfaces are many. Supporting, communicating and sharing is a big part of the culture at AFRY.

You need to be structured and like to focus on several areas at the same time. Being able to work according to a clear process and plan your work well allows us to ultimately ensure good delivery.

You express yourself fluently in Swedish and English in both speech and writing.

Depending on the part of hydropower you work with, there may be requirements to pass a background check for work with safety-classified projects and driving license requirements for work with commissioning and construction management/project management. For possible permanent employment after the program, you must be able to present a diploma from the relevant education.

Important: If you are interested in several locations, apply to the one you are most interested in and then indicate in your application if you are interested in additional locations.

Start date: September 2026

Employment: Temporary employment during the program (9 months) with the possibility of permanent employment afterwards.

Recruitment process: Interviews will take place after the end of the advertising period. In our recruitment process, you will be asked to complete tests to assess competencies and abilities. These tests aim to ensure that we select the most suitable candidates in a fair and objective manner, based on the specific requirements of the position.
