Job Description

AFRY is making a major investment in upcoming railway projects in the Nordic region, and we are well-prepared for initiatives in both maintenance and new construction. Our rail organization is now national, with offices from Malmö to Luleå, and through close collaboration across various technical disciplines, we form a strong, cohesive whole. In Sweden, we currently have approximately 150 employees in the areas of expertise BEST+KM and Rail Systems. &#

Service Area South/West currently consists of approximately 50 employees spread across 7 locations. The employees in the south are led by two team leaders who report to the Service Area Manager.

Our current team leader in Malmö has moved on within the organization, and we are now seeking a new team leader for the team based at our Malmö office. As a team leader with us, you will be responsible for a team of approximately 5 people. You’ll have a role with great variety, the opportunity for many contacts and client meetings, and responsibility for the individual development and work situation of the team members. You’ll participate in the section’s operations, including strategies, profitability, marketing, quality, human resources, professional development, and recruitment. You’ll combine your managerial role with spending some time working as a consultant yourself, ideally as a project manager or technical specialist. You’ll be a member of the South/West Division’s management team.

The work is primarily based in Malmö.

Qualifications

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about team development, customer satisfaction, and business acumen—and who has a strong interest in the division’s services! We’re all team players, and in the role of team leader, you’ll need to be responsive, curious, and collaborative. We’re looking for someone who’s passionate about helping others grow and building sustainable teams.

For this role, we expect you to have several years of experience in the industry and a thorough understanding of issues related to the technical areas of track, electrical systems, signaling, telecommunications, and ducting. In terms of education, we expect you to hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, or to have acquired equivalent experience through other means. We prefer that you have prior experience as a consultant, but experience working on the contractor or client side is also of interest.

You have previously demonstrated strong leadership skills and have a natural ability to engage and motivate others. We look for strong interpersonal skills and a passion for taking on challenges—whether technical, business-related, or leadership-related. You have a business-oriented drive, are skilled at building relationships, and it’s a major advantage if you have an established network in the industry. Naturally, you see yourself as a team player and enjoy sharing your knowledge with both clients and colleagues. For this role, we also expect you to be fluent in Swedish and English and to be able to express yourself clearly both verbally and in writing.
