Job Description

We’re now looking for a Section Manager for our automation business in Umeå! Here, you’ll have the opportunity to take over a well-run business with established client relationships, skilled employees, and a stable project portfolio built on a strong foundation.

In the role of Section Manager, you will have overall responsibility for your operations, leading and further developing a team of approximately 30 automation engineers and specialists. Your mission will be to strengthen the existing culture and structure while driving the continued development of both employees and the business. Through hands-on and engaging leadership, you’ll create the conditions for job satisfaction, high performance, and long-term professional development within the team.

The role involves close collaboration with industrial customers in the local area, where you and your team will deliver sophisticated automation solutions and project-based business. With clear business responsibility, you will actively work to nurture and develop existing customer relationships while identifying new opportunities in the region.

As a section manager, you are responsible for the section’s results, project deliveries, and profitability, as well as for areas such as strategy, recruitment, and talent acquisition. You will operate within the broader context of AFRY and collaborate with other managers and business units to continue developing the business in the region and throughout Sweden.

The work is primarily conducted on-site at our offices or at the client’s location, but can be partially combined with remote work as needed.

Qualifications

We are looking for a curious and relationship-focused leader with the ability to further develop an already well-functioning business. You are motivated by creating a positive work environment for your employees and have a genuine interest in developing both people and the business over time. With a responsive and relationship-building approach, you build trust both within the team and in customer relationships.

You are business-minded and understand what it takes to run a profitable project-based business. At the same time, you are curious and forward-thinking, with the ability to identify opportunities for further development and improvement. You thrive in a role where you can combine structure and a long-term perspective with hands-on operational involvement in day-to-day work.

We would like you to have the following experience and skills:

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, or equivalent experience in a relevant field
• Leadership experience, either with personnel responsibility or as a project manager
• Background in automation, industry, or a related technical field with a connection to project delivery
• Experience working with customer relations, business development, and sales
• Experience working with budgets, results, and follow-up
• Very strong proficiency in Swedish and English, both spoken and written
• A Class B driver’s license, as customer visits in the local area are a natural part of the role
