Job description
At AFRY Hydro, we are today 120 employees who together drive the development of hydropower - from dams and dam safety to geotechnics, hydromechanics, hydraulics, environment and power station. We work in both national and international projects and are in an exciting and expansive phase as a growing Nordic player.
Our team at Hydro that focuses on Environment and Sustainability is now looking for our next colleague who wants to be part of making a real difference for the future of hydropower. As a consultant in hydraulics in dam safety, you work in varying projects together with several different technical areas on the dam safety side. You will be responsible for performing theoretical calculations on dams such as discharge calculations, and modeling, to assess dam safety. There may also be site visits where you make measurements and documentation.
You will be part of a team with a lot of expertise in hydraulics and the environment linked to hydropower. We have long worked on the basis of a clear strategy for the National Plan for the review of large-scale hydropower (NAP). In addition to this, we work with dam safety projects such as in-depth inspections and dam safety evaluations according to RIDAS. Our size, collective expertise and interdisciplinary approach enable us to offer solutions with a breadth and quality that are unique in the industry.
In this role, you will work with socially important and complex projects in close collaboration with other experienced specialists. There are great opportunities to influence and develop in this future industry and freedom in directing your work and development. We are active throughout the Nordic region and the project team is therefore largely managed remotely. The projects are generally run from the office or home office and travel occurs about every / every other month.
Qualifications
To succeed in the role, we see that you enjoy immersing yourself in complex issues and investigations linked to hydropower and hydraulics, and are curious to continue learning and developing in the field. You are self-driven and like to take your own initiatives to find solutions and drive the work forward. You are clear in your dialog, thus clarifying expectations and ensuring that information reaches the right people at the right time. Equally important to the role is that you thrive on collaboration and building trusting relationships, both with customers and colleagues. You are happy to contribute knowledge and ideas while creating space for others to contribute, all in order for the team to develop and succeed in the best way possible.
What kind of knowledge and experience do you need?
