Job Description
At AFRY Hydro Nordics, we are facing an exciting future as one of the world’s largest consulting firms in hydropower. In Sweden, we currently have 120 consultants who together drive innovation in hydropower—from dams and dam safety to geotechnical engineering, hydromechanics, hydraulics, power plants, and environmental design.
We are now looking for more colleagues with a background in generators who want to drive socially important hydropower projects at the cutting edge of technology together with us. We are looking for both those with a focus on mechanics and those with a focus on electrical calculations.
In the role focused on electrical calculations, you will work on the electrical sizing of generators, including cooling systems, in connection with preliminary studies and the preparation of request for proposal documents. This may involve new generator installations and/or upgrades. The role also includes working on RfG matters related to grid connection of modified production units (case management, simulation).
In the role focused on mechanics, you will instead focus on preliminary studies, request for proposal documents (technical specifications), and issues related to rotor dynamics and vibration, the design of mechanical systems, control engineering, and more.
Regardless of your specialization, you will follow projects from the initial stages—such as status assessments and the preparation of preliminary study reports—through to on-site implementation in a supervisory role. If you’re interested, there’s also the opportunity to take on project management responsibilities for both national and international resources, as well as the chance to assume greater responsibility within our specialist group, where you’ll help shape the continued development of Kraftstation.
We are currently a dedicated team consisting of 24 project managers, specialists, and engineers in the fields of electrical control, automation, and turbine technology. We collaborate extensively throughout the country within Hydro and AFRY, as well as through international partnerships. Work is typically conducted from the office or a home office, and travel and site visits to the facilities are a natural part of the role.
Qualifications
To succeed and thrive in this role, we look for someone who enjoys problem-solving and has a strong ability to organize and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. You work independently and proactively and are eager to take the initiative to move forward effectively. Since we operate in a customer-focused business, it is important that you are responsive and clear in your communication and are adept at building trusting collaborative relationships both internally and externally.
Furthermore, we are looking for someone with prior experience working with generators, specifically in defining requirements for renewal or reinvestment projects. You must be able to express yourself well in both spoken and written Swedish and English. A master’s or bachelor’s degree in engineering is a plus.
For the role with a focus on mechanics, the following are also desirable:
For the role focused on electrical calculations, we consider the following to be advantageous:
