Job Description

Our Electrical, Instrumentation & Automation department at AFRY currently consists of a team of electrical, instrumentation, and automation engineers based in Norrköping and Linköping. We handle everything from design and engineering to commissioning and technical support in the process and manufacturing industries, energy, and other industrial segments. With us, you’ll be part of a team that values collaboration, knowledge sharing, and a positive work environment. We are part of Pulp & Paper Sweden and deliver both project and PS assignments to a broad customer base in the region.

As an Instrumentation Engineer with us, you’ll work with instrumentation in industrial process plants, focusing on both design and field installation. You’ll be a key contributor to our projects, where instrumentation roles are in high demand and often critical to the overall delivery.

Examples of job responsibilities

  • Instrument design and preparation of technical documentation
  • Preparation and updating of instrument lists, loop diagrams, data sheets, and I/O lists
  • Participation in project planning, technical decisions, and solution development
  • Collaboration with process, electrical, and automation engineers, as well as the customer
  • Participation in verification, loop checks, FAT/SAT, and commissioning
  • Managing changes and technical deviations in projects
  • In certain assignments, working with safety-classified facilities and processes

The team consists of knowledgeable and dedicated colleagues with a good mix of junior and senior experience. You’ll have access to support from experienced engineers and specialists in instrumentation, electrical systems, and control systems, as well as from other AFRY offices as needed.

We primarily work on a project basis and collaborate closely with other technical disciplines and geographic locations within AFRY. The combination of broad technical expertise and varied assignments provides you with excellent opportunities for professional development—both in your current role and in the long term, such as by specializing in instrumentation or taking on greater responsibility in projects

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, we believe you thrive in a technically challenging environment where you can apply your problem-solving skills and work in a solution-oriented manner alongside others. You take responsibility for your deliverables, are service-oriented toward customers and colleagues, and have a drive to develop both yourself and the business.

To be a good fit for this role with us, we believe you have:

  • Experience working with instrumentation in the process industry
  • Knowledge of instrument design, field instruments, sensors, and control valves
  • System proficiency and experience with AutoCAD
  • Relevant technical education from high school, vocational college, or university, or equivalent experience

Language skills: spoken and written Swedish; English is a plus

It is a plus if you have:

  • Experience or training in ATEX and Ex-classified installations
  • Knowledge or certification in SIL / functional safety
  • Experience with design tools such as Comos, Eplan, or Insyde
  • Courses or training in process instrumentation or control engineering
