Job Description
We are now seeking a Service Area Manager with a focus on Project Management to join our team at Thermal Sweden. The role is flexible in terms of location within Sweden, and you will work in a national context with colleagues in multiple locations.
With us, you’ll play a key role in building and further developing our project delivery capabilities at a time when energy systems are changing rapidly. You’ll be part of the management team and help develop both our project management offerings and the operations within Thermal Sweden.
As Service Area Manager, you’ll be responsible for leading and developing the Project Management service area. The role combines leadership, capability development, and delivery responsibility, with a clear focus on establishing structure, work methods, and quality in our projects. You will work to strengthen our ability to plan, manage, and deliver larger and more complex projects, including managing risks, developing methodologies, and ensuring we have the right skills and work methods in place.
You will lead a team of project managers and be part of a business unit of approximately 50 people. The role involves collaboration with other Service Area Managers within Thermal Sweden and some travel, primarily related to customer engagement and leadership responsibilities. Depending on the needs of the business, there is also the opportunity to work in an operational capacity on projects or take on an overarching role in larger projects, for example as a sponsor.
As a Service Area Manager, you will be part of the management team for AFRY Thermal Sweden, which currently consists of four service areas: Distribution Systems, Piping and Plant Engineering, Process Design, and Project Management.

What knowledge and experience do you need?
Required Qualifications
- Experience in project management of large/complex projects (e.g., EPC, EPC-M, Owner’s Engineer)
- Experience with client management/sales
Desirable:
- Experience working internationally
- Experience with project governance and project quality
- Experience with strategy/business development
- Management experience with responsibility for staff and budget
In this role, it is also essential that you have a strong command of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
