Job Description

With a proud history and an exciting future, the nuclear power industry is the place where you can make a real difference in shaping tomorrow’s energy landscape. At AFRY Nuclear, we manage projects and carry out assignments of various sizes across multiple technical areas: mechanical/process, electrical/automation, construction, and industry-specific areas such as reactor safety and radioactive waste. With our broad expertise, we help both our clients and each other grow through complex, long-term assignments in a growing industry at the heart of the energy transition.

We’re expanding and looking for more colleagues who want to join us in making a difference for the future of nuclear power. In this consulting role, you’ll have the opportunity to work on exciting projects throughout the entire nuclear power lifecycle. There will be room to tailor the role based on your experience and interests, with a primary focus on mechanics and process engineering. Your responsibilities may include, for example:

  • Supporting or leading technical design in mechanics or process engineering
  • Conductingtechnical analyses, investigations, and feasibility studies for process systems, plant modifications, and improvement projects
  • Developing engineering and design documentation
  • Modeling, simulation, and calculations
  • Defining requirements and verifying systems and components

Depending on your experience, there is also the opportunity to take on overall technical responsibility for projects as a technical project manager and/or act as a specialist in your field.

You will be part of a dedicated team based in Gothenburg, Varberg, and Halmstad. We collaborate closely both within the team and with our clients. As Sweden’s leading consulting firm in the nuclear power industry, we enjoy a high level of trust and a unique position with our clients, which allows us to work closely with them on their projects and contribute directly to solving complex challenges at their facilities. As a consultant with us, you’ll play a central role in our clients’ operations, with the opportunity to work closely with their organizations. For most assignments, you’ll spend 3–5 days per week on-site at the client’s location.

Qualifications

To succeed and thrive in this role, we expect you to have strong analytical skills and enjoy delving into complex issues and technical challenges in an industry with high safety standards. You have a strong ability to drive your work forward both efficiently and meticulously, as well as a strong ability to organize parallel tasks and projects.

You enjoy collaborating and building and developing trusting relationships, both with customers and colleagues. You are eager to contribute your knowledge and ideas while remaining curious to continue learning and growing from others.

In addition, we are looking for the following:

  • Previous experience as a mechanical or process engineer in the process industry, the energy industry, or another comparable industry
  • An engineering degree or equivalent work experience that we deem to be of equal value
  • Good knowledge of Swedish and English
  • A Class B driver’s license

It is advantageous if you have:

  • Experience in nuclear power or other regulated operations with high safety requirements
  • Experience working on projects
  • Experience as a technical manager/design manager/technical project manager

Since this position involves working in security-classified areas, you will undergo drug testing and security clearance checks before employment can begin.
