Job Description

At AFRY in Västerås, we are now looking for an electrical design engineer who will play a key role in our projects. You will work with automation solutions for industrial clients and other customers, ensuring that electrical design requirements are met from the initial concept to the completed installation. 

As an electrical design engineer , you’ll play a central role in our assignments—sometimes throughout the entire project process, from sales support to commissioning, and sometimes as a specialist in specific parts of ongoing projects. The work is varied, with both longer-term assignments that provide continuity and shorter stints on various projects. You’ll primarily be based at our office in Västerås, but assignments may also involve working at a client’s site or remotely. 

In this role, you’ll be expected to take a leading role and have overall responsibility for electrical design, commissioning, and documentation. You’ll serve as an important mentor to our junior colleagues and actively contribute to knowledge sharing within the team. With us, you’ll receive support through AFRY’s Competence Forum, where you can exchange experiences with senior engineers and develop your own expertise.

Looking ahead, we expect system development to continue evolving, which means you’ll have the opportunity to work with new platforms and environments. In the future, the role may also include security-classified assignments. 

Qualifications

We’re looking for someone who is results-oriented, focused on achieving goals and maintaining productivity even when challenges arise. You have strong problem-solving skills, handle complex situations, and apply your experience flexibly. In addition, you are proactive, make your own decisions, and act confidently even when not everything is planned in detail. 

Requirements 

Work Experience:  

• At least 5 years of relevant experience in electrical design within industrial production facilities 

Education:  

• Relevant formal education in electrical engineering/electrical design/electrical power, or equivalent practical experience 

System knowledge: &#

• Experience with AutoCAD tools
• Ability to handle and understand customer requirements and documentation systems
• EPC ElMaster

Language skills:  

• Spoken and written Swedish and English 

Desirable 

Work experience:  

• Experience working in a project-based environment 
• Experience with automation projects related to industrial drive systems 
• Process experience from the manufacturing industry, process industry, and water and wastewater 

Education:  

• Engineering degree in electrical engineering, electrical design, or electrical power with an industrial focus
