Job Description

With a proud history and an exciting future, the nuclear power industry is the place where you can make a real difference in shaping tomorrow’s energy landscape. AFRY is one of the largest providers of expertise to the nuclear power industry in Sweden and the Nordic region, and we have maintained close partnerships with our clients for many years. Thanks to the strong trust we’ve built and our unique position, we have the opportunity to work on some of the industry’s most interesting projects, where together we contribute to a safe and sustainable energy supply.

Our team focused on nuclear safety is now looking for another colleague who is eager to explore new and exciting opportunities for professional growth. The team currently consists of 12 knowledgeable and dedicated consultants who work on projects related to nuclear power and reactor safety, as well as nuclear waste and radiation protection issues. In this consulting role, your responsibilities may include:

  • Investigations, analyses, and requirements management related to nuclear safety
  • Work on permitting and licensing issues
  • Preparing radiation safety reports for nuclear facilities in operation
  • Interpreting and applying safety regulations for existing and planned nuclear facilities
  • Investigating issues related to radioactive waste during the decommissioning of nuclear power plants

Depending on your specialization and interests, other related tasks may also be relevant, such as:

  • Needs analyses, feasibility studies, and consulting
  • Project or investigation management in multidisciplinary projects or within reactor safety, licensing, or radioactive waste
  • Work on system and facility issues related to nuclear safety
  • Mentoring junior colleagues and/or leading teams

In this role, you’ll be based at our headquarters in Solna. We offer a flexible work environment where working from the office and from home is combined with close collaboration with our clients’ organizations. Regular travel to nuclear power plants is required and may occasionally involve overnight stays.

Qualifications

To succeed and thrive in this role, we are looking for someone who enjoys analyzing complex issues and problems. You have a structured approach to work and an eye for detail. You follow procedures and processes carefully while also being able to adapt well to changing circumstances. Since a large part of the role involves interpreting and drafting documents, it’s important that you communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, in Swedish and English.

Equally important is that you enjoy collaborating and sharing knowledge, both with colleagues and customers. You are responsible and eager to take the initiative to build new connections and collaborative relationships, as well as to find new solutions and improvements for our customers.

In addition, you have:

  • Several years of experience in the nuclear power industry, which has given you a solid understanding of plant operations as well as knowledge of environmental, permitting, and/or safety reporting matters
  • Relevant post-secondary education
  • Proficiency in Swedish and English

We also consider it an asset if you have:

  • Worked with energy issues within a government agency
  • Experience with nuclear waste management, radiation protection, and/or radiology
  • A master’s degree in engineering or higher academic degree in the field of energy or the environment
  • A Class B driver’s license

Since this position involves working in security-classified areas, you will be required to undergo drug testing and a security clearance process, including a background check, in accordance with Chapter 3 of the Security Protection Act before employment can begin.

Additional Information

With us, you’ll help shape a sustainable future through some of the industry’s most exciting projects.
