Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical piping and plant engineer for our process industry operations in Luleå. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing piping systems and plant layouts for industrial process facilities. You will work in collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient, safe, and compliant technical solutions that meet operational and regulatory requirements.

  • Design and develop piping systems, plant layouts, and equipment configurations using CAD and 3D modeling software
  • Analyze process requirements and translate them into detailed technical specifications and drawings
  • Ensure that all designs comply with relevant safety standards, the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED), and applicable Swedish and international regulations
  • Coordinate with process engineers, equipment manufacturers, and construction teams to optimize the plant’s design and functionality
  • Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, including P&IDs (piping and instrumentation diagrams), equipment lists, and installation specifications
  • Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for piping and plant modifications
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and provide technical solutions during plant commissioning and operation
  • Participate in project planning, scheduling, and budget management
  • Support maintenance teams by providing technical guidance and recommendations
  • Stay up to date on industry best practices, new technologies, and regulatory changes in the process industry

Qualifications

Skills and Experience Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of professional experience in piping design and plant engineering within the process industry
  • Proficiency in CAD software (Plant 3D, Cadmatic, or equivalent 3D modeling tools)
  • Strong knowledge of process engineering principles and plant layout optimization
  • Thorough understanding of standards for pressure equipment (PED, ASME) and safety regulations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to organize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for effective teamwork with various teams
  • Experience in preparing and interpreting technical documentation and specifications

Desirable skills and experience:

  • Experience with process simulation and modeling software
  • Knowledge of Swedish industrial regulations and standards
  • Familiarity with the maintenance and operational aspects of process plants
  • Background in the chemical, petrochemical, pulp and paper, or pharmaceutical industries
  • Experience with plant commissioning and start-up procedures
