Job description

The energy transition is one of the greatest challenges of our time, and an important part of the solution is to ensure that energy can be efficiently transported from producer to consumer.

In AFRY Transmission Lines, we are around 90 consultants, including some of the industry's most experienced power line specialists. Our strong position in the industry is based on a unique combination of long experience, high technical competence and the ability to work throughout the project chain. This includes everything from early studies and permit processes to design, construction, technical advice and project management in large and complex power grid projects.

Our customers are mainly Swedish power grid companies, but we also work with other players in the energy industry such as wind and solar power. We work with the technical design of both overhead lines and underground cables within regional and national networks and contribute to strengthening the electricity infrastructure of the future.

Right now we are in an expansive phase and are therefore looking for additional power line designers, power line designers and project managers for Transmission Lines for both overhead line, ground and submarine cable. With us, you will have a key role in some of the Nordic region's most socially important electricity network projects. You will be part of a modern workplace with challenging assignments and great development opportunities together with competent colleagues.  AFRY is ranked as one of Sweden's most attractive employers among engineers.

The work is varied and involves a lot of problem solving and great personal responsibility. You work closely with colleagues, customers and other technical disciplines to find solutions to complex problems.

The location is flexible for the right skills, but it helps if you are close to one of our offices in Stockholm, Uppsala, Gothenburg, Karlstad, Trollhättan, Malmö, Värnamo or Östersund.

Qualifications

Personal skills are something we value highly for you to thrive and succeed in the role. You have a genuine interest in our technology area and a desire to continue to develop in what you do. You approach complex issues in an analytical and solution-focused way and find ways forward even when tasks are challenging.

As a person, you are unpretentious and responsive. You are happy to use the expertise of others, share your own and are open to different perspectives. You contribute to a working environment where questions and ideas are received in a positive way. When needed, you help colleagues and see the value of solving things together so that we as a team reach our common goals. Requirements:

  • Several years of experience in the industry from design, construction or contracting of power lines within regional and/or national grids
  • Good knowledge of Swedish, as the language is used frequently both within AFRY and with our customers.

If you have experience with one or more of the following, it is a plus

  • Experience with ICEtow and/or PLS-CADD
  • Experience with electrical design (e.g. earthing design and calculation of electric and magnetic fields (EMF))
  • Experience with AMA
  • Experience with AutoCAD/ Microstation/ Civil 3D or similar CAD programs (model management and/or drawing work)
  • Experience with BIM and/or ArcGIS
  • BAS-P and/or BAS-U training;
  • Experience in foundation design
  • Experience in preparing and/or reviewing tender documents
  • Experience in the consulting industry
  • Experience in contracting
  • B-driving license
