AFRY has Nordic roots with a global reach. Our shared principles—Result-driven, Client-centric, Empowering, and Accountable—guide us in how we work, develop, and succeed together. Join us in accelerating the transition to a sustainable society.
Job Description
Our clients operate in a variety of industries, including renewable energy, forestry, pharmaceuticals, steel, and chemicals. You will work on a mix of short- and long-term assignments. You will also have numerous points of contact, both internally and externally, nationally and internationally.
AFRY’s Safety division consists of a national team of approximately 150 specialists with extensive experience in various areas of risk management. We have a culture of helping and developing one another, so you’ll have the opportunity to grow with us. Of course, we offer benefits such as flexible hours, wellness allowances, and more for our employees, as well as job security through collective bargaining agreements. You’ll have the opportunity to drive technical development by participating in employee-led working groups, guided by our development team.
To meet the growing demand for our services, we’re looking for someone who wants to work with process safety. As a process safety expert, you’ll help create a safe facility for our customers. Among other things, you’ll work in one or more of the following service areas:
In your role as a risk consultant with us, you may be required to travel within and outside Sweden, as our operations are international. We are currently seeking employees primarily at AFRY’s offices in Gothenburg, Karlstad, Stockholm, Malmö, Luleå, Skellefteå, Umeå, Örnsköldsvik, Västerås, Gävle, and Sundsvall. Other locations may also be considered.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with prior experience working in process safety—that is, in one or more of the service areas listed above—either as a consultant or at a facility. You enjoy working with technology, are systematic, enjoy tackling complex problems, and are a team player. We prefer that you have a master’s degree in engineering or have acquired equivalent knowledge.
In the role of consultant, you’ll need to build personal networks both with client companies and internally at AFRY. If you already have an established network, we view that as a major advantage. Furthermore, you’re skilled at maintaining and managing your existing relationships, and you’re motivated by finding new business opportunities. You also need the ability to manage a budget and deliver on tight deadlines, as well as plan and organize your work independently. If you also enjoy leading projects and mentoring your colleagues, we view that as a plus. On the other hand, if you prefer to specialize and have the opportunity to focus on a specific area, that is another quality we view positively.
Working in safety requires strong communication skills. Therefore, you’ll be expected to be fluent in Swedish and have a good command of spoken and written English.
We value personal integrity, attention to detail, and a genuine interest in your work.
In Safety, we work with risk management, fire safety, occupational health and safety, machinery safety, as well as civil protection and emergency preparedness. In addition to process safety, risk management also includes risk considerations in physical planning, HSE coordination, climate risk analyses, etc. Experience beyond process safety—which is part of our service portfolio—is a plus.
Additional Information
A work-life balance is something we at AFRY value highly. Among other things, we offer group activities within our Safety business area as well as group activities through Club AFRY, which includes the entire local office. We actively work to promote diversity—we are a company that believes it will make us even stronger, more productive, and more successful.
