Do you want to lead technology projects that strengthen Sweden's security and future defense capability?

Being a project manager in the defense industry means stepping into some of Sweden's most advanced and socially important technology environments. At AFRY, you get to lead development projects spanning aerospace, marine systems, ground platforms, sensor technology and complex safety-critical systems. Here, development is not just about technology - but about creating robust solutions that contribute directly to Sweden's defense capability, preparedness and resilience.

As a project manager, you will be the hub of a cross-functional team consisting of experts in electronics, embedded, mechanics, system architecture and testing. You hold the whole together: requirements, system understanding, risk management, time management, technical dependencies and quality assurance. The role involves close contact with both technical specialists and the business side, where you help create structure, direction and conditions for the development team to deliver.

Our projects are characterized by long life cycles, clear processes, safety standards and cutting-edge technology. Many people find defense projects to be among the most meaningful and technically interesting things to work on. You will work either at a customer site in Stockholm or as part of our in-house team in Solna.

Qualifications

Who we are looking for - requirements and qualifications

You have:

Relevant university education and:

- Experience of leading technical development projects
- Ability to coordinate multiple technology areas and drive progress in complex systems
- Good communication skills and used to working in a structured way
- Fluent in spoken and written Swedish and English
- Own background as a developer in embedded software, electronics or mechanics - you understand the technology, working methods and challenges also from an engineering perspective

Additional:

- Experience from defense, voluntary defense organizations, the Home Guard or completed military service
- Project management certification (IPMA, PMP or similar)
- Experience in requirements management, systems engineering or test management
- Background in safety-critical projects or formal quality processes

Security clearance - an opportunity

You need to be a Swedish citizen, and the position involves security clearance - a chance to work with development projects and technical systems that few get access to.
