Job description
Hydropower in Sweden is under development and with over 700 engineers globally, we at AFRY Hydro are one of the world's largest hydropower consulting companies. In Sweden, we are today 100 consultants who together drive the development of hydropower - from dams and dam safety to geotechnics, hydromechanics, hydraulics, environment and power stations. We are growing as a Nordic player and also run international projects. We are also growing with the market in areas such as environmental design and flow issues and have for a long time worked for an environmentally adapted and sustainable hydropower production.
We are now continuing our growth journey and are looking for more consultants with a background in hydropower / dams who want to be involved in driving the development in the area in the role of assignment manager with us. In this role, you will have plenty of opportunities to influence and make a difference both in the projects and in the daily operations. Our projects vary both in size and content, and you will lead everything from smaller technical assignments to larger modernization and reinvestment projects. You will have the opportunity to lead projects such as inspections and condition assessments of structures and dams, perform advanced calculations in construction, design action proposals and repair plans, as well as execution contracts. There are opportunities to work internally and lead teams at AFRY but also act as a project manager for clients. You will be part of a dedicated team located across the country, and thus the project team is largely managed remotely and the location of employment is flexible. Our projects are generally run from the office or home office, but site visits to the plants occur frequently.
Qualifications
To succeed and thrive in the role, we see that you have a good problem-solving ability and are happy to immerse yourself in technical issues. You enjoy collaborating and are happy to share knowledge while being curious to constantly learn new things. As a consultant, you have many contacts both internally and externally, so it is also important that you enjoy establishing and maintaining good relationships. Since it is common with parallel projects, you also need to have a good ability to plan and structure your work to be able to manage your projects in the best way.
Furthermore, we see that you have:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in hydropower/dams
- Relevant post-secondary education or experience that the employer considers equivalent
- Good knowledge of Swedish and English
We see it as a merit if you have:
- Completed RIDAS 2 week course
- Experience as a consultant
- Experience as a project manager/assignment manager
- B-driving license
As the position may work in security classified areas it may be relevant with drug tests and security tests before employment can begin. For all recruitments at AFRY, an ID check, reference checks and verification of education are always carried out as a basis.
