Job Description

With approximately 1,000 employees, AFRY’s Public & Commercial Places business area is one of Sweden’s leading players in the construction and real estate sector. In building construction, we work on both complex new construction and renovation projects, where the focus is on sustainable, robust, and cost-effective solutions.

Here in Örebro, you’ll be part of a growing team with a strong local presence and deep roots in the region. We have contracts with a number of major clients in the region, including Region Örebro County, which means you will most likely be working on projects related to hospitals and healthcare environments—often with high demands for functionality, durability, and long-term sustainability.

You will work on both local assignments in the Örebro region and larger national projects, often in close collaboration with public and private clients. The role offers a varied and rewarding workday where you follow projects through the entire process—from early stages and system documentation to construction drawings and production.

The Örebro office currently consists of about twenty employees in Public & Commercial Places, with primary expertise in HVAC and electrical systems. Our structural engineering practice in Örebro is currently being established, which gives you a unique opportunity to help build and develop our local offering—both technically and commercially.

As a project manager in structural engineering, you will play a central role with both technical and business responsibilities.

You will:

  • Lead and be responsible for structural engineering projects from the early stages through to final delivery
  • Ensure quality, schedule, and cost control in projects
  • Serve as an advisory partner to clients in both local and national projects
  • Drive technical solutions in structural engineering in collaboration with AFRY’s collective expertise across multiple disciplines
  • Coordinate and lead project teams, as well as support and develop colleagues
  • Contribute to building and developing AFRY’s K offering in Örebro and the Mitt region

Here, you’ll have the opportunity to combine cutting-edge technical expertise with business acumen and leadership in projects that contribute to societal development. Our culture is characterized by collaboration, commitment, and development—we believe that the best solutions are created together.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Several years of experience (approximately 8 years) in structural engineering as a consultant
  • Experience in contract or project management with responsibility for quality, schedule, and budget
  • Very strong expertise in structural analysis and design, as well as solid experience working in accordance with Eurocodes and BBR
  • Proficiency in Revit and/or Tekla
  • Experience with complex projects, preferably in hospitals or other technically demanding environments
  • Experience working closely with clients and driving business dialogue

To thrive with us, we believe you:

  • Have a solid technical foundation and are confident in making decisions in your role as a lead structural engineer
  • Thrive in a leadership role where you are responsible for driving and coordinating the structural engineering work in projects
  • Have a clear business drive and enjoy working closely with customers, where you contribute to developing our relationships in the region
  • Possess strong analytical skills and a structured approach to work, enabling you to handle complex technical challenges and develop robust, cost-effective solutions
  • Are solution-oriented, quality-conscious, and thrive in projects with many interfaces

You communicate fluently in Swedish, both verbally and in writing, and hold a Class B driver’s license.

The following are considered a plus:

  • Experience with complex projects, such as hospital, defense, or security-classified buildings
  • In-depth expertise in steel and/or concrete construction
  • Certifications or specialist roles in structural engineering or construction design
