Job Description
Are you early in your career and interested in working with groundwater issues in urban development and infrastructure projects?
We are now looking for a recent graduate or junior hydrogeologist for our office in Stockholm.
With us, you’ll have the opportunity to develop your skills in hydrogeology alongside experienced colleagues and work on real-world challenges related to groundwater, construction, and urban development.
About the Role
As a junior hydrogeologist, you will gradually be introduced to various aspects of our work. You’ll work alongside more experienced colleagues and, over time, take on increasing responsibility.
Your work may include, for example:
You’ll have the opportunity to follow projects from investigation and analysis through to final technical assessments and see how hydrogeology influences design and construction.
Our hydrogeology team
You’ll become part of our joint hydrogeology team in Stockholm and Gothenburg.
It’s important to us that you, as someone new to the profession, have the opportunity to work alongside more experienced colleagues. Therefore, you won’t need to know everything from the start. You’ll receive support in your tasks while gradually building your own expertise and taking on more responsibility.
We also work closely with other technical disciplines within AFRY, such as geotechnical engineering, rock engineering, environmental engineering, structural engineering, and drainage. This gives you the opportunity to gain an early understanding of how hydrogeology interacts with other aspects of a civil engineering project.
Qualifications
We are looking for recent graduates or those with one or more years of work experience who have a relevant academic background in, for example:
It is advantageous if, through your education, thesis, internship, or previous employment, you have gained experience with, for example, groundwater issues, GIS, field surveys, hydrogeological calculations, or modeling.
We believe you are curious and analytical and enjoy understanding how different elements are connected. You also need to be a team player and be prepared to combine analysis and report writing in the office with fieldwork.
The most important thing is not that you already know every aspect of hydrogeology. We’re looking for someone with a solid foundation who, above all, wants to grow into a skilled hydrogeologist alongside us.
Your career development with us
At first, you’ll work closely with more experienced colleagues. As your experience grows, you’ll have the opportunity to conduct your own investigations and assessments and take on greater responsibility in projects.
In the long term, there are several possible career paths within hydrogeology, such as specialist roles, technical leadership, and project management.
