Job Description

As an Automation Engineer at AFRY you will work on programming, configuration, and commissioning of control systems within industrial projects. The roleinvolves developing solutions in PLC and SCADA systems, primarily inSiemens TIA Portal and ABB 800xA, as well as participating in testing and commissioning. You’ll be an important part of the project team and will be responsiblefor the automation aspect, which requires close collaboration with electrical designers and project managers.The work is primarily based at AFRY’s office inKalmar or on-site at the client’s location, with some opportunity to work from home.

We expect you to be able to drive the programming work from conceptto a finished solution and contribute your expertiseto ensure that the project delivers according to requirements and schedule. You’ll receive support from your manager and colleagues, as well as access toAFRY’s extensive network of specialists.In the long term, there are excellent development opportunities—for example, to deepen your knowledgein advanced programming, take on the role of a systems engineer orproject manager, and develop as a consultant with a holistic perspective on client projects.

Some assignments may require security vetting, which means that the role may involve security-classified projects in the future.&#

Qualifications

To succeed in the role of automation engineer,you need to have a problem-solving approach where you can quicklycan quickly identify the causes of problems in complex control systems, analyze various solution options,and choose the most effective way forward. You are business-minded and structured, which means thatyou plan and organize your work with a focus on codeand documentation, and ensure that the project adheres to agreed-upon requirements, timelines, and budgets. The role also requires that you are ambitious—you take responsibilityto drive tasks forward, actively seek improvements, andup to date on new technology.Finally, it’s important that you’re a team player who worksclosely with colleagues and customers, shares knowledge, and contributes to apositive work environment.

Requirements 

  • Experience in programming in the industrial sector (manufacturing/process/food) as well as commissioning and troubleshooting.
  • At least a vocational college degree in automation or equivalent experience
  • System knowledge: Siemens TIA Portal and/or ABB 800xA
  • Swedish and English at a professional level, both spoken and written

Desirable qualifications:

  • Knowledge of HMI/SCADA systems
  • System knowledge: ABBSattLine, AVEVA System Platform, etc.
  • Knowledge/experience of electrical design
