Job Description

AFRY Advanced Automation in Borlänge is part ofAFRY’s commitment to delivering innovative and sustainable automation solutions to industry. We work closely with our customers to create efficient, safe, and future-proof systems that contribute to increased productivity and reduced environmental impact. &#

Our team consists of dedicated specialists in automation, electrical design, mechanical design, and project management, and we offer a dynamic work environment where professional development and collaboration are central.

We are looking for an automation engineer who wants to help drive the development of advanced automation solutions within our projects.

Your area of responsibility is to ensure automation requirements are met in ongoing projects, where you will sometimes follow the entire project process—from the customer’s initial idea and sales support to the facility’s commissioning—and sometimes contributewith specialist expertise in specific parts of projects.

You will also work as a sub-project manager, which entails responsibility for planning, coordinating, and following up on the automation component of our projects. The work takes place both locally from our office in Borlänge and in collaboration with the rest of AFRY’s organization. A large portion of our projects are in the steel and energy sectors.

Work weeks vary. Some projects run for longer periods and involve continuity in your tasks, while other weeks consist of shorter assignments across several different projects. You will work closely with our automation team in Borlänge, where collaboration and knowledge sharing are central.   We expect you to take a leading role in our automation assignments, with a high level of responsibility and strong collaboration skills. The role also involves serving as a mentor to junior colleagues and contributing to the team’s professional development.

At AFRY, there is a strong network of expertise forums that connect our senior engineers across the entire organization. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to build relationships, share knowledge, and develop in new technical areas. System development is advancing rapidly, and our clients’ system environments will need to be upgraded. You must therefore be open to learning new platforms and technologies to meet future demands. The role is not security-classified at this time, but may involve security-classified assignments in the future.

Qualifications

In this role, it is important that you have a strong sense of planning and structure.   You work methodically, set realistic expectations, and break down complex tasks into clear steps and milestones. Attention to detail and precision are an integral part of your approach.

We also value integrity. You prioritize the team’s and organization’s goals and always act with a professional and responsible approach.   Your ability to prioritize the big picture makes you a reliable and dependable resource in projects.

Finally, communication is a key competency. You express yourself openly and honestly, listen to others’ perspectives, and create space for dialogue. By providing constructive feedback, you contribute to a climate where everyone can develop and perform at their best.
