Job Description

At AFRY Advanced Automation in Stockholm, we continue to grow—and now we want to expand our team! We specialize in industrial automation and deliver smart, customized solutions to both private and public-sector clients. Here, you’ll work on technology-intensive projects that truly make a difference—for real. 

Your Role—Where Ideas Become Reality  As an automation engineer with us, you’ll play a central role throughout the entire project journey: from the initial sketch and system concept to final commissioning. You’ll work closely with our customers and help shape solutions that drive their businesses forward. 

Our projects vary widely—one day you might be making minor programming changes or upgrades, and the next you could be part of building entirely new factories or facilities from the ground up. It’s this variety that makes the job both challenging and incredibly rewarding. 

Your responsibilities will include: 

• Programming in DCS, PLC, and SCADA 
• Troubleshooting and problem-solving at a high technical level 
• Documentation and quality assurance of your solutions 
• Technical consulting and customer dialogue, where you’ll serve as the customer’s closest technical partner 

You’ll work both on-site with our customers and on our own in-house projects—perfect for those who enjoy variety in pace, environment, and tasks. 

A project we’re especially proud of 

Right now, we’re helping to rebuild one of Stockholm’s wastewater treatment plants to make it one of the most modern in the world. The new facility uses advanced membrane technology to increase capacity and meet future environmental requirements. 

AFRY is responsible for all aspects of electrical design and automation—and approximately 25 employees from our Stockholm offices are working diligently on the project every day. 

We have several similar projects in the pipeline, so we’re looking for a senior automation engineer who wants to help drive the work forward, based in Solna or Södertälje.

Qualifications

Since you’ll be working on finding solutions to advanced problems, we’d like you to enjoy problem-solving. It’s important that you feel comfortable and enjoy your work, which is why we place great emphasis on your personal qualities. To thrive with us, we believe you’re flexible and capable of working on multiple projects simultaneously. You also have: 

• Relevant education in the field or equivalent work experience.
• Several years of experience in the design of new process plants.
• Extensive experience as an automation engineer and strong proficiency in Siemens software, specifically SIMATIC PCS 7, are highly desirable. Experience with other DCS/PLC/SCADA systems is also relevant and of interest for this position. 
• Must have a Class B driver’s license, as travel is a regular part of the role. 
• Strong proficiency in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
