Job Description

As an Electrical Designer at AFRY, you will work with the entire electrical design chain for industrial projects. The role involves creating electrical documentation, circuit diagrams, cable and connection lists, and material specifications in CAD tools such as Eplan or Elprocad. You will be an integral part of the project team and be responsible for the electrical design aspect, which requires close collaboration with automation engineers and project managers. The work is primarily based at AFRY’s office in Kalmar or on-site at the client’s location, with some opportunity to work from home.&#

We expect you to be able to drive the design work from the preliminary study to the final solution and contribute your expertise to ensure that the project delivers according to requirements and schedule. You will receive support from your manager and colleagues, as well as access toAFRY’s extensive network of specialists. In the long term, there are excellent opportunities for development—for example, to specialize in advanced electrical design, take on the role of systems engineer or project manager, and grow as a consultant with a holistic perspective on client assignments.

Some assignments may require a security clearance, which means the role may involve security-classified projects in the future.

Qualifications

To succeed in the role of electrical designer, you need a problem-solving approach where you can quickly identify the causes of problems in complex electrical designs, analyze various solution options, and choose the most effective way forward. You are business-minded and structured, which means you plan and organize your work with order in drawings and documentation, and ensure that the project adheres to agreed-upon requirements, timelines, and budgets. The role also requires that you are ambitious—you take responsibility for driving tasks forward, actively seek improvements, and stay up to date on new technology. Finally, it is important that you are a team player who collaborates closely with colleagues and customers, shares knowledge, and contributes to a positive work environment.

Requirements

  • Experience in electrical design within industry (manufacturing/process/food) as well as commissioning.
  • At least a vocational college degree in automation/electrical design or equivalent experience
  • Experience working in Eplan or Elprocad
  • Experience with machine safety
  • Swedish and English at a professional level, both spoken and written

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of standards for Safe Machinery
  • Experience with several electrical design tools
  • Knowledge/experience with control system programming (e.g., Siemens TIA Portal, ABB Control Builder / 800xA)
