Job description
We are now looking for a driving and committed manager for our environmental consultants in Uppsala and Gävle. As a Service Area Manager, you will have a key role with great variety - from strategic business development work and marketing to personnel management and operational assignments. You will lead a unit (Service Area) with 17 competent environmental consultants and will also be responsible for coaching and managing a team leader. On behalf of our customers, we work with notification and permit cases, environmental impact assessments and descriptions, cultural heritage analyses and investigations in the cultural environment, environmental and nature investigations, water and air investigations, contaminated areas, environmental soil surveys, environmental controls, risk assessments and action investigations, climate calculations and sustainability assessments.Within the Environment business area, we have several different technical forums where we develop each other and share knowledge and experience.
Our customers are in the private as well as the municipal and government sectors. We also offer our environmental expertise to other business areas within AFRY.

As a Service Area Manager with us, you will have a role with great variety, the opportunity for many contacts and customer meetings with the responsibility to achieve successful and sustainable business. You are responsible for the unit's operations including goal and strategy work, profitability, marketing, quality, budget, staff, skills development and recruitment. As mentioned above, you will also manage a team leader who is delegated responsibility and authority as needed. You will report to the Service Market Area Manager for the region and be part of both the regional management team and the national Environment management team. You will be expected to work on assignment some of the time, approximately 20-30%. We also have access to experienced HR, finance and legal staff to assist you in your role as manager.

Qualifications
We are looking for you who have a college or university degree in a relevant subject area (environment, ecology, nature, bio-geo) or equivalent education, preferably with good knowledge of our environmental legislation. For this role, we believe you have previous experience working as a consultant.
We place a strong emphasis on leadership and people management in this role and therefore hold some previous leadership experience as a requirement. We are looking for a leader who can continue to develop the unit through an unpretentious, responsive, flexible and inclusive approach.
You need to be well versed in the issues of the technology area and have a strong interest in technology and civil engineering. You need to have a business mindset, which is fundamental to the role as you are responsible for the unit's operations and finances. Developing the business, working on tenders and conducting marketing work are part of the role of Service Area Manager.
The real success factors for the role are your personal qualities. Building good relationships, both with customers and colleagues, is an important part of the role. It is likely that you have demonstrated good leadership in previous roles by engaging, inspiring and motivating.
We also look for you to have the leadership ability to take initiative and step forward when others take a step back. This, combined with your curiosity for environmental issues, creates a fantastic potential for solving problems and developing the work group.
