Job Description
We are now seeking a Service Area Manager for the Environment and Sustainability North Service Area in Ludvika and Falun. As a Service Area Manager with us, you’ll have a highly varied role, the opportunity to build many professional connections and engage in client meetings, and the responsibility for achieving successful and sustainable business outcomes.
In this role, you will lead approximately 19 skilled environmental consultants at the offices in Ludvika, Borlänge, and Falun. As Service Area Manager, you will be responsible for the business operations, including goal-setting and strategy development, profitability, marketing, quality, budgeting, personnel, and professional development. You will report to the regional manager and participate in the regional management team. You are expected to spend approximately 30–50% of your time working on client assignments.
Within the Transportation Environment business area, we have several different technical networks and forums where we support each other’s professional development and share knowledge and experience. We also have access to experienced staff in HR, finance, and legal affairs who will support you in your role as a manager.
Within the Service Area Environment and Sustainability North, we have many skilled environmental consultants specializing in permitting for industrial operations, water management, the natural environment, and contaminated sites. Our clients span all industries—from manufacturing to infrastructure—and include both the private and public sectors. Together with other consultants at AFRY, we develop comprehensive solutions, which allows us to gain a deeper understanding of the project—something that creates added value for our clients. At AFRY, you’ll also become part of an international network of environmental consultants, all driven by a passion for creating the solutions of the future.
To us at AFRY, you as an individual are important. We therefore ensure that you develop both within your area of expertise and in leadership
You will be based at one of our offices in Ludvika or Falun.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with a college or university degree in a relevant field (environment, ecology, natural sciences, biogeoscience, environmental chemistry, and soil science) or equivalent education, preferably with a strong understanding of Swedish environmental legislation and contaminated soil.
You have at least four years of experience as an environmental consultant. You must also have at least four years of experience as a project manager on major environmental projects.
We place great emphasis on leadership and people management in this role and therefore require some prior leadership experience. We are looking for a leader who, through a humble, responsive, and inclusive approach, can continue to develop the team.
You must have a thorough understanding of issues in the technical field and a strong interest in technology and urban development. Our guiding principles are BRAVE, DEVOTED, and TEAMPLAYER, which are embedded in our work methods and collaboration and which, based on experience, we know benefit the entire company and our customers.
You must have a business-oriented mindset, which is fundamental to the role since you will be responsible for the team’s operations and finances. Developing the business and the team is an integral part of the Service Area Manager role.
The true keys to success in this role are your personal qualities. An important part of the job is the ability to build strong relationships with both customers and colleagues. You have likely demonstrated strong leadership in previous roles by engaging and motivating others.
We also see that you possess the leadership qualities to take the initiative and step forward when others take a step back. This, combined with your curiosity about environmental issues, creates tremendous potential for solving problems and developing the team.
