AFRY has Nordic roots with a global reach. Our shared principles— Results -driven, Client -centric, Empowering, and Accountable—guide us in how we work, develop, and succeed together. Join us in accelerating the transition to a sustainable society.

Job Description

The Rock Engineering Service Area employs approximately 20 dedicated employees who work as technical consultants in rock engineering. We contribute throughout the entire project chain—from preliminary investigations involving sampling and environmental geological assessments to advanced design. Our work ranges from small rock slopes to complex tunnel geometries in some of Sweden’s largest infrastructure projects.

As Service Area Manager, you’ll be responsible for the entire Service Area’s operations, including strategy, profitability, marketing, quality, personnel, and professional development. You’ll combine your managerial role with spending some time working as a consultant yourself. This is a role offering great variety, opportunities for numerous contacts and client meetings, and the responsibility to achieve successful and sustainable business outcomes.

The Service Area is divided into two groups, whose group managers, together with you, form the Service Area’s management team.

You will also be a member of the Domestic Region Sweden East management team, where you will contribute to the business’s overall marketing and competency plans as well as its business concepts.

Qualifications

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about team development, customer satisfaction, and business acumen—and who has a strong interest in developing the Service Area’s services.

You communicate clearly and have the ability to get your message across. You care about ensuring that everyone feels supported and valued. You have a coaching leadership style and are driven by helping employees achieve their goals.

You hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering and have experience as a consultant in rock engineering. You have prior managerial experience in the consulting industry, have demonstrated strong leadership skills, and can naturally engage and motivate others.

Since we have employees in other countries, it is also very important to work to ensure they feel included in the team and in our projects. We’re looking for someone with strong interpersonal skills who enjoys being challenged—both technically and in terms of business and leadership. You’re business-minded, relationship-oriented, and it’s a major advantage if you have an established network in the industry. Of course, you see yourself as a team player and enjoy sharing your knowledge with both clients and colleagues. For this role, we also expect you to be fluent in Swedish and English and to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
