Company Description

AFRY offers services in engineering, design, digitalization, and consulting. We are dedicated experts in industry, energy, and infrastructure, and we create value for future generations. AFRY has Nordic roots and a global reach. Our shared principles—Result-driven, Client-centric, Empowering, and Accountable—guide how we work, grow, and succeed together. Join us in accelerating the transition to a sustainable society.

Job Description

At AFRY Hydro Nordics, we are facing an exciting future as one of the world’s largest consulting firms in hydropower. In Sweden, we currently have 120 consultants who together drive innovation in hydropower—from dams and dam safety to geotechnical engineering, hydromechanics, hydraulics, power plants, environmental design, and flow issues, where we have long worked to ensure environmentally responsible and sustainable hydropower production.

We are now looking for someone to join our team in Malmö who wants to grow in a consulting role and drive successful hydropower projects alongside us. In this role, your primary focus will be on design and calculations, though your responsibilities may vary depending on the project. If you’re also interested in taking on the role of project manager, there may be opportunities for that.

Our projects range from smaller technical assignments to larger modernization and renovation projects throughout the country. What they all have in common is that they are complex and challenging, and no two projects are alike. Your assignments may include, but are not limited to, the following tasks:

  • Reviewing drawings
  • Design management
  • Performing calculations for concrete structures and/or supporting junior colleagues with calculations
  • Developing proposed measures and repair plans
  • Project management of, for example, inspections and condition assessments of structures and dams

You’ll have ample opportunities to make an impact and a difference both in individual projects and within the organization as a whole, while also learning new skills and growing in an exciting and stable industry. We collaborate with colleagues throughout Hydro and AFRY across the country and also engage in international partnerships. Work is typically conducted from the office or a home office, and travel and site visits to facilities are a natural part of the role.

Qualifications

We’re looking for someone who is curious about hydropower and interested in learning and growing within the industry. You enjoy delving into technical issues and thrive on analyzing and understanding complex problems to find solutions. You’re driven by a desire to learn new things and use your curiosity to continuously build on your expertise.

You thrive in a collaborative environment based on knowledge sharing and finding win-win solutions in a customer-oriented setting. Since it is common to work on multiple projects simultaneously, you also need strong planning and organizational skills to manage your projects effectively and ensure both accuracy and efficiency.

Additionally, we are looking for:

  • Several years of experience in structural engineering within civil engineering/buildings/bridges/ports or major industrial projects
  • Experience in the design and/or calculation of concrete structures
  • A degree in civil engineering or a university engineering program
  • A Class B driver’s license
  • Proficiency in Swedish and English

Experience in the hydropower industry and project management is considered a plus.

Since the position may involve working in security-classified areas , drug testing and security clearances may be required before employment can begin.

Tests are used in this recruitment process to identify your potential based on personal qualities and problem-solving skills, as well as to ensure an accurate and fair process.
